WASHINGTON, DC: Radio host Charlamagne tha God fired back following President Donald Trump's social media jab at him, where the POTUS called him a "low IQ individual" and also dubbed him a "racist".

Charlamagne tha God was a guest on Lara Trump's show on Saturday, August 2, where he claimed that the president hadn’t delivered on his key campaign promises, such as improving the economy for the people who need it the most.

Talking about Trump's second term on Saturday, Charlamagne said, "I wouldn’t give it a good rating, simply because the least of us are still being impacted by the worst."

He also argued that the poorest Americans would be hurt by Trump’s "Big Beautiful Bill" because of its reforms to programs like Medicaid.

However, Donald Trump did not take it well as he took to Truth Social to slam the radio host and call him a "racist sleazebag".

He wrote, "He’s a low-IQ individual, has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth and knows nothing about me or what I have done" as he defended his record on the economy, the border, and foreign policy.

Following Trump's social media post, Charlamagne tha God responded to the president on 'The Breakfast Club' on Monday, August 4.

He joked about the personal insults about his intelligence, saying that some people might agree that he's a "sleazebag".

"I looked up the definition of sleazebag, says it’s 'a disgusting or despicable person.' Depending on who you ask, that may apply to me. I personally prefer friendly, neighborhood a-hole," he said.

However, he rebutted Trump's "racist" claim and said, "He called me a racist. I didn't mention race, not one time on Lara Trump!"

Charlamagne tha God said it was ironic for Trump to call him 'racist'

Moreover, he suggested that it was ironic for the president to call him this while his administration was tackling diversity and civil rights programs.

Charlamagne said, "I didn't bring up the fact that president Trump issued an executive order directing oversight of institutions like the Smithsonian to remove or suppress narratives about systemic racism in Black history."

He further added, "They want to reframe cultural memory to eliminate discussions of historical racial injustice. That, along with determination of diversity and civil rights programs, are considered very racist by a lot of civil rights advocates. I didn't even bring that up, okay? I was just talking to your base, letting your base know that you haven't kept the promises you made in regards to the economy."

Charlamagne tha God later added that he was "rooting" for Donald Trump to succeed, so that the United States could succeed.

"Believe it or not, I'm rooting for you, but I need you focused and, right now, you're not focused. Ok? We need you focused on two things: the economy and [Jeffrey] Epstein. I need you to keep the promises of a great economy and the promises of transparency with the Epstein files," the radio host mentioned.

Charlamagne tha God tells Trump 'I don’t want you rattled'

During 'The Breakfast Club' on Monday, Charlamagne said, "President Trump, don’t worry about Lenard, okay, don’t worry about Charlamagne tha God", referring to his given name, Lenard McKelvey.

He continued, "I know something I said hit a nerve and rattled you a little bit, but I don’t want you rattled. I want you to end wars, okay? I want you to keep the border secure. I want you to have the economy booming, okay? I want all these things to be true. I am an American. I don’t care who’s in the White House. I want America to succeed. But I need you focused, and right now you’re not focused."

Moreover, Charlamagne tha God added that he was "just talking to [Trump's] base" with the remarks to remind them about the promises the POTUS made to them.

He said, "It’s actually hilarious to see you upset about the high unemployment rates when you let Elon Musk take a chainsaw to the federal government and fire a bunch of government workers earlier this year. You did that, President Trump."
