WASHINGTON, DC: In a Truth Social post on Monday, August 4, President Donald Trump once again voiced his support for Sydney Sweeney while taking a jab at Taylor Swift for going “woke.”

The post stirred attention not just for its content, but for a typo in which Trump mistakenly referred to the 'Euphoria' actress as "Sidney."

Although the post was quickly deleted and corrected, screenshots of the error spread widely online, turning a simple slip-up into a viral moment. Here’s what Trump said in his full post, where he applauds Sweeney and criticizes Swift.

Donald Trump cheers on Sydney Sweeney for her 'hottest' ad

Donald Trump's Truth Social post comes amid controversy surrounding a recent American Eagle ad featuring Sydney Sweeney, which critics on the left have labeled as "racially charged."

The ad, which includes the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” features the 27-year-old actress, known for her blonde hair and blue eyes. While some on social media condemned the campaign, Trump and several conservative figures quickly rallied to her defense, especially after it emerged that Sweeney registered as a Republican in June 2024.

“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'hottest' ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get ‘em Sydney!” Trump wrote.

Previously, Trump was asked for his thoughts on reports that Sweeney was a registered Republican and the ad controversy on Sunday.

“She's a registered Republican?” Trump responded with interest while speaking on the tarmac at Lehigh Valley International Airport near Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“You'd be surprised at how many people are Republican. That's one I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that,” he added. “If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.”

Donald Trump goes after 'woke' Jaguar ad and Taylor Swift

After praising Sydney Sweeney and her American Eagle ad in Monday's post, Donald Trump shifted his focus to Jaguar, blasting the car manufacturer over a recent ad that drew backlash for featuring androgynous models and no vehicles, prompting comparisons to Bud Light’s controversial campaign. The fallout led to the resignation of Jaguar's CEO Adrian Mardell.

“On the other side of the ledger, Jaguar did a stupid, and seriously woke advertisement, that is a total disaster!” Trump wrote.

“The CEO just resigned in disgrace, and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad. Shouldn’t they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company. The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with billions of dollars so foolishly lost,” he added.

The 79-year-old then turned his attention to Taylor Swift, who publicly endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 and 2024 elections. He repeated a previous claim that his criticism of the singer diminished her popularity.

“Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on truth that I can’t stand her (hate!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, no longer hot,” he claimed.

“The tide has seriously turned — Being woke is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump concluded, signing off with his trademark line.
