'Check the check!' Ashley Biden trolled for settling $5K lien after missing income tax payments
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: Ashley Biden, the First Daughter of the United States, has recently paid off a tax lien worth more than $5,000 in Pennsylvania.
The lien was placed on her property as a result of missed payments during her father Joe Biden's vice presidency and presidency.
According to a report by the New York Post, on January 3, the Keystone State's Department of Revenue recorded that the $5,079 lien had been settled and “should be removed” from records in Philadelphia County's Court of Common Pleas.
In December 2021, Ashley Biden received a legal notice for failing to pay $1,691 in income taxes back in 2015, when Joe Biden was serving as Barack Obama's Vice President, and $1,956 in income taxes in 2021, the year he was inaugurated as President.
The Philadelphia court imposed a filing fee of $94.44 after repeated attempts to collect the outstanding taxes.
As of now, the tax lien has been satisfied, and the First Daughter's property has been cleared of any legal claims.
Ashley Biden’s chequered past comes to the fore amid missing income tax payments
Ashley Biden is Joe and Jill Biden's only child, and she campaigned for her father during the 2020 presidential race.
Her diary was stolen and handed over to right-wing journalists, who published bizarre entries regarding her relationship with her father.
Other postings highlighted her drug addiction in the past, which included a 1999 arrest for marijuana possession at Tulane University and an alleged video of her taking cocaine at a party in Delaware a decade later.
The First Daughter was also incarcerated in 2002, for hindering a police officer attempting to break up an altercation outside a bar in Chicago.
Ashley later came out about her and her half-brother's struggle with drug abuse and referred to the present political culture as "a disgusting ballgame," according to statements she made at a CNN-attended event in Washington, DC.
"I was able to get great treatment, and so I've been able to take some of those things that I learned in therapy and use them as well," she explained to Elle magazine in a March 2023 interview.
Ashley started the fashion firm ‘Livelihood’ in 2017, having previously worked in Delaware as a social worker and as the head of a criminal justice reform organization.
Pennsylvania Republican Rep Dan Meuser, who served as state revenue secretary from 2011 to 2015, previously claimed that the tax lien suggested that the President's daughter "has an estimated net worth of nearly $2 million," and that her delinquency was the outcome of "privilege or carelessness."
“At best it’s sad, at worst it’s unlawful,” Rep Meuser remarked back in December last year. “Tax payment compliance in Pennsylvania is not difficult, and in Ashley Biden’s case she has the means to pay her taxes. Joe Biden loves chastising American taxpayers in the highest tax bracket — maybe there are a couple of other people he should be chastising.”
Garrett Ziegler, who previously served as a White House aide to former President Donald Trump, recently brought to the attention of Fox News the updated tax filing for Ashley Biden.
In addition, Ziegler, who is a board member of the conservative non-profit Marco Polo, issued a statement to Fox News expressing that "the people in her life should have done a better job of helping with her financial affairs."
It is worth noting that Ziegler is currently engaged in a legal dispute with Hunter Biden, Ashley Biden's brother, over the dissemination of a searchable online portal that contains emails and media found on the First Son's ill-reputed laptop.
