Chris Christie snaps at Alyssa Farah Griffin's 'insulting' suggestion to drop out and support Nikki Haley
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During his appearance on the January 3 episode of 'The View,' Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie got into an argument with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin in defense of his supporters.
The 62-year-old former Governor of New Jersey was present as a guest on the morning talk show to discuss the upcoming presidential primary, his stance on important issues such as abortion, and his disavowal of Donald Trump, days ahead of the first Republican caucus in Iowa.
Alyssa Farah Griffin asks Chris Christie why he wouldn't support Nikki Haley
Griffin shared on the previous episode that she would be supporting another GOP candidate, Haley, in the primary election, to consolidate support against the frontrunner, Former President Donald Trump.
On the same note, she asked Christie why he would not support Haley in that effort, "knowing how dangerous" Trump is.
She did, however, mention that she would love to vote for Christie as well, reported Fox News.
Christie responded by saying that Haley could not defeat Trump "because she doesn't want to."
He also quoted a South Carolina politician with whom he had recently spoken, saying that Haley would "eat glass" to be Trump's vice president.
Consolidating voter support ahead of New Hampshire primary
"The latest polling has you at a margin, that if all of your support went to Nikki Haley, it would put her over Trump in New Hampshire," Giffin addressed the politician.
"Wouldn't that still be a better gambit for democracy to have Nikki Haley as the nominee?" she asked.
"And how insulting to my voters that you would think that they would immediately just waltz over to Nikki Haley."
Christie snapped back, "Even though Nikki Haley has called Donald Trump ‘the right president for the right time.'"
"Even though (Haley) said - I love this one - 'For some reason, chaos and drama follow him wherever he goes.' That's like an arsonist saying, 'For some reason, burning buildings follow me wherever I go,'" he continued.
"I mean, chaos and drama, and you know this, and I know it, follow (Trump) because that's what he does," he added.
