Chris Hayes sparks debate as he labels Trump-supported Project 2025 as 'dictatorial control fantasy'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During the July 4 episode of 'All In With Chris Hayes,' the host described Project 2025, a set of conservative and far-right policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation, as "a straight-up dictatorial fantasy of control over the American people."
Chris Hayes further stated, "What this means is that this small coterie of hard-right zealots, these really creepy weirdos, are going to exert total control over every aspect of your life, in terms of what you look at and what you read, what you mail, what your healthcare is.”
What does the Project 2025 proposal include?
The proposals encompass a wide array of policies, including renaming the Department of Health and Human Services to the Department of Life, restricting abortion and healthcare access for women, and potentially imprisoning individuals involved in the production of pornography.
Chris Hayes began the segment by referring to the 900-page document as a manual on "how a second Trump administration could weaponize the federal government to pursue a disturbingly authoritarian vision."
He acknowledged Taraji B Henson for bringing attention to Project 2025 during her hosting of the BET Awards on June 30, noting that more people are becoming aware of what amounts to a "wish list of fringe, far-right policy proposals."
While hosting the BET Awards, Taraji B Henson took a moment to encourage viewers to vote in this year's election, emphasizing the importance of staying informed.
"Pay attention," Henson urged. "It's not a secret. Look it up. They are attacking our most vulnerable citizens. The Project 2025 plan is not a game."
Chris Hayes unveils Project 2025's far-reaching agenda
Chris Hayes further explained that Project 2025 aims to "weaponize the Department of Justice as a tool directly under the control of Donald Trump."
He quoted the document, that states, "The DOJ falls under the direct supervision and control of the president of the United States as a component of the executive branch.
He continued quoting the document, "Litigation decisions must be made consistent with the president’s agenda." Hayes noted that "Justice John Roberts just endorsed that in the six-way immunity decision."
Hayes continued, explaining that the plan "calls for a full-out, whole-of-government approach to the assault on reproductive rights for women."
This includes banning mifepristone, a drug commonly used for abortions in the US that "has been used safely for decades."
Additionally, Project 2025 would eliminate the Obama-era mandate of providing free emergency contraception.
GOP proponents of Project 2025 also advocate for the removal of all federal laws, grants, regulations, and contracts that mention "sexual orientation and gender identity, diversity, equity, inclusion, gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender sensitivity, abortion, reproductive health, and reproductive rights," Hayes added.

Another viewer shared, "Why the 'free' and 'unbiased' press don't make emphasis in this project and publishes some of its most outrageous propositions? Would that not be more important than focusing in the Biden's debate performance>?" [sic]
One viewer pointed out, "Project 2025 is to gut the disaster that is Washington DC of its corrupt politicians and people in power for decades. It’s a resetting of Washington DC to be fair and impartial for all people. But if you continue to listen to the corrupt mainstream media, CNN and MSNBC, they will fear monger and scare Americans like they always do." [sic]
A follower observed, "Play Project 2025 sound bites and have the media hound that crazy spokes dude every minute of every day from here on out."

"You should go on for an hour about this. This should be brought up frequently and with visuals and supporting explanations. People need to hear this and it needs to be taken seriously. People need to understand that a vote for Trump is a vote for their freedoms being taken away," explained an individual.
