CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Christina Aguilera knows how to elevate a high-profile event with real grandeur. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer performed at the opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on Thursday, June 18. The event was held at the Center’s John Lewis Plaza.

She delivered a reimagined rendition of “What a Wonderful World,” giving the classic track her own distinctive vocal style. The choice carried added meaning, as it is a known favorite of Barack Obama.

"When we asked her to sing one of President Obama's favorite songs, she told us, 'Well, uh, I've never sung it in public before,'" Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation, said while introducing Aguilera. "But she came up with a new arrangement just for this occasion, and we are so grateful."

The opening featured multiple musical performances, but it's Aguilera’s interpretation that stood out and quickly drew attention.
