Clint Eastwood’s daughter Kimber reveals how she turned family tradition into 'Wheel of Fortune' gig
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kimber Lynn Eastwood, daughter of renowned actor Clint Eastwood, has enjoyed a successful 20-year career as a professional makeup artist for movies and TV series, including 'Wheel of Fortune.' She has now shared how a family tradition led to this full-circle moment in her career.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Kimber Lynn Eastwood revealed how she landed her job at 'Wheel of Fortune' in 2005.
She also offered insights into how Pat Sajak's former role is being adjusted by Ryan Seacrest and discussed her journey from following in her father's footsteps to creating her own path.
Kimber Lynn Eastwood says her father was supportive of her career
"My grandmother was very traditional from Scranton, Pennsylvania," said Kimber Lynn Eastwood. "We watched ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and 'Jeopardy!’ every night together with my mom and my aunts."
She added, "[My dad] knows that I've been on the show, and when we talk, and I'm like, 'Oh, I'm going to ‘Wheel’ this week. He's been very supportive of my career."
Kimber Lynn Eastwood reveals why she didn't follow her parents' footsteps
Kimber Lynn Eastwood mentioned that it felt natural to follow in her parents' footsteps as a child. As the daughter of Clint Eastwood and the late Roxanne Tunis, a well-known actress from the 1986 film 'Blue City,' she initially seemed destined for a similar path. However, life's challenges had different plans for her.
"I studied acting for years and years and years," Kimber said. "I was a single mom, so I raised my son, and I waitressed at night and auditioned in the daytime. I was working at Marmalade Cafe in Westlake, and I waited on my [current] boss."
She added, "I told him I was in makeup school, and I had been an actress and who I was and my dad and all that. And, so, he said, 'Why don't you come down to ‘Wheel’ and just check it out and just see what we do down there?' And I did."
"In the meantime, I was just doing independent films or short films or whatever I can get my hands on at that time to do makeup and experience," she continued. "And then, about a year later, he called me and said, ‘Hey, we need somebody in the contestant department.' And that's that."
Kimber Lynn Eastwood once did makeup for Pat Sajak and Vanna White on the show
Kimber Lynn Eastwood, who previously did makeup for co-hosts Vanna White and Pat Sajak on the show, said she enjoys interacting with the contestants.
"I just love doing makeup for the contestants," she shared. "They are so happy and appreciative to be there, and their excitement creates a really fun and energetic atmosphere."
"I try to talk with them and try to calm them down and reassure them," she continued. "The contestant department is amazing what they do with them. They're there for about a good five solid hours before they go on stage. So, we just try to make them as comfortable as possible, reassure them that they're going to look beautiful on stage."
Kimber, who has been in the business for twenty years, described White and Sajak as "the kindest and most humble people that you could ever wish to work for." She expressed her excitement for Seacrest to assume his new position as host. Sajak's last episode aired earlier this year.
Kimber Lynn Eastwood praises Ryan Seacrest's transition into his new role
"Ryan stepped into the role like he'd been doing it 100 years," Kimber Lynn Eastwood said of the seasoned host, who made his big 'WoF' debut on Monday, September 9. "I mean, he is so professional. I mean, we're used to seeing Pat for 40 years, but Ryan's great, too. I like them both equally, and I think they're both very talented, on the sly, witty, sharp men.
"Ryan was the best pick for the job," she added. "I couldn't think of a better person to take over for Pat."
Kimber Lynn Eastwood said she enjoys spending time with family
Kimber Lynn Eastwood, who has a son named Clinton, said she likes to spend time with her family when she's not at work. "[My dad] is great with all the grandkids," Kimber said of Clint. "He's older, he's more settled in his life. He loves being a grandpa. He loves all of us."
The award-winning actor and director is the father of eight children: Laurie Murray, Kimber Lynn Eastwood, Kyle Eastwood, Alison Eastwood, Scott Eastwood, Kathryn Eastwood, Francesca Eastwood, and Morgan Eastwood.
Clint Eastwood was married twice. His first marriage was in 1953 to Maggie Johnson, a model, and they divorced in 1984. He then married Dina Ruiz in 1996, but the couple divorced in 2014.
Clint Eastwood recently faced grief with the passing of his lifelong companion, Christina Sandera, who died on July 18 at the age of 61. According to a death certificate from the Monterey County Department of Health, Sandera's cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia.
"We were all in shock, and it was all kind of a struggle in the beginning, but I think now the shock value is wearing off," said Kimber. "When somebody passes away that's so close to you, you just, there's just kind of a different vibe. You just learn to live with it."
Kimber declared that she would follow her father's famous advice to "just be yourself" as the family continues to adapt to their new normal.
