MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Former President Donald Trump made a dramatic entry at the Republican National Convention on Monday, July 15, just 48 hours after surviving a harrowing assassination attempt.

The grand entrance was described by CNN's Chris Wallace as potentially the "most electric" moment he has ever seen at a political convention.

Chris Wallace shares his thoughts on Donald Trump's RNC appearance following assassination attempt

On the opening night of the RNC in Milwaukee, Donald Trump, with a bandaged right ear, entered the Fiserv Forum to a rapturous welcome from the crowd as Lee Greenwood’s 'God Bless the USA' played in the background.

Two days earlier, on Saturday, Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire at the former president while he was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Secret Service agents swiftly guided Trump to safety as snipers took down Crooks.

Wallace, who has been covering political conventions since 1964, was deeply moved by the intensity of Trump’s RNC appearance.

Describing the scene as "extraordinary," he reflected, "Winston Churchill famously said nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without effect, and you can see that today."

He added, "The idea that just hours ago, a few days ago, this man, an assassin’s bullet whizzed by him, hit him in the ear inches from his temple. Just by the slightest fraction of an inch he survived, shot at without effect. And you can see the joy of this crowd. I got to tell you, as somebody who’s been covering these conventions since 1964, that may have been the most electric moment I ever saw. That was quite extraordinary."

CNN anchor Jake Tapper also weighed in on the emotional significance of Trump’s appearance at the convention.

He emphasized the deep connection shared by the GOP presidential nominee and his supporters, noting that the horrific event had heightened the stakes for both Trump and his base.

"These are tens of thousands of people who love Donald Trump and they almost lost him, this figure that figures so prominently in their lives," expressed Tapper.

Internet reacts as Chris Wallace gushes over Donald Trump's RNC appearance

Netizens weren't in the same boat as Chris Wallace when it came to Donald Trump's RNC appearance and most resorted to mocking the GOP presidential nominee.

One wrote, "LOL.. the size of the bandage was HILARIOUS. If tRUMP had an ingrowing toenail he's walk on stage with his leg in a full plaster cast."

"Dude does have a gaping hole in his ear," joked a person and another said, "Chris Wallace would be gushing at Putin for squashing a revolt. It's no wonder the political parties throw these useless conventions. Media is dazzled by a show."

"Trump does fine…. Until he opens his mouth. As always," remarked an individual, whereas one more expressed, "Chris Wallace what are you gushing about, he is (Trump) the same narcissistic idiot as before, shooting at him did not change his personality, in fact it may make him worst."

Another person bluntly pointed out, "No one cares or is watching." A netizen took a dig at Wallace, saying, "We'll survive without your support, libby."
