Jamaal Bowman mocked for saying he won't call Hillary Clinton's support for opponent a 'major endorsement'
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), a prominent member of the progressive "Squad," downplayed Hillary Clinton's endorsement of his primary opponent, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, as per Fox News.
During a recent appearance on CNN's 'Laura Coates Live', the lawmaker stated, "I definitely wouldn’t call that a major endorsement, with all due respect," underscoring his confidence in the diverse array of endorsements he has garnered from fellow left-wing politicians and influential organizations amid his reelection bid.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Clinton wrote, "With Trump on the ballot, we need strong, principled Democrats in Congress more than ever. In Congress, @LatimerforNY will protect abortion rights, stand up to the NRA, and fight for President Biden’s agenda – just like he’s always done. Make a plan to vote by June 25th!"

On CNN, Bowman further said, "We are endorsed by sitting US Senator Elizabeth Warren, (D-Mass), sitting US Senator Bernie Sanders, (I-Vt), and the minority leader of the Democratic Party, Hakeem Jeffries, (D-NY)."
He is also supported by prominent members of the "Squad," including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"We’re also endorsed by Planned Parenthood, 1199SEIU, and many others. I love our endorsements and they’re going to help us win this race," told the lawmaker to CNN host Coates.
Moreover, Bowman did not shy away from criticizing both Clinton and AIPAC-backed Latimer on their foreign policy stance, particularly regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza, which he condemned as an "unjust attack on civilians."
"You know, unfortunately, my opponent and Secretary Clinton do not support a permanent ceasefire. They support Benjamin Netanyahu and they support billions of dollars of our money going to Israel and Netanyahu for an unjust attack on civilians in Gaza, versus those billions coming here to our district to help with childcare, housing, transportation, and so many other issues," remarked Bowman.
A recent Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill poll found Latimer held a 17-point lead over Rep Bowman. They are set to face off in the Democratic primary on June 25.
