RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco declared that "it's time we put a felon in the White House" in a video following the conviction of Donald Trump in the hush money case.

Bianco, who oversees one of California’s largest agencies, said he enjoys apprehending and locking up criminals and believes he will be able to do so even better if the former president is elected for a second term.

Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a hush money payment on May 30 and his sentencing is scheduled for July 11. While the ex-POTUS could face prison time of up to four years, most experts say it is unlikely.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco declared his intention to challenge Democratic Governor Gavin

Though it has been clear for years that Bianco, who manages an area with a population greater than 16 states, is at the very least, a moderate who leans right, he claimed that his endorsement of Trump indicates he is "switching teams," as per The Daily Beast

The sheriff has long been critical of Governor Gavin Newsom and made sure to take a jab at the Democrat before declaring his support for Trump.

"This love affair that our governor and our state legislature have with criminals is based on the belief that criminals are not responsible for their own actions, that they are a victim of society," said Bianco, before adding in a sarcastic tone, "It’s cops’ fault, it might be my fault."

He went on to accuse Newsom of "slashing" law enforcement funds, even though the budget shows that his department received an extra $270 million this year compared to 2019, when he was sworn in.

Bianco has declared his intention to challenge Newsom, focusing his campaign on law and order and tougher punishments for wrongdoers. This would be quite a bold move for California, which hasn't elected a Republican senator or governor since 1994, when Arnold Schwarzenegger took office.

Having said that, the Riverside County sheriff seems determined to make an impression for himself, even at the cost of contradicting his past remarks.

In the video, Bianco further said, "Trump 2024, baby. Let’s save this country and make America great again."
