NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: While chatting to The Hollywood Reporter's 'Awards Chatter' podcast, Dick Van Dyke expressed he was unimpressed with Donald Trump during their meeting, particularly because the former president did not recognize him.

Dick Van Dyke recounts first encounter with Donald Trump

During his interview, the 98-year-old reflected on his illustrious career, shared insights into the challenges of aging, and openly discussed politics.

He was asked about his thoughts on Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Van Dyke, who has criticized Trump in the past, didn't hold back, as per Newsweek.

"I met him at a party in Malibu before he got into politics... he was in a Hawaiian shirt, with a big open belly, nicely tanned, a couple of gold chains around his neck, and a blonde on his arm," Van Dyke recounted. "I'll be generous and say she was 20."

"And he looked down at me like, who are you?" The podcast host noted he had never seen Trump laugh.

"What do you think of someone without any sense of humor?" he asked the veteran comedian.

"Well, he's disturbed," Van Dyke replied. "Remember in the beginning, 30 pretty prominent psychiatrists said he was unfit [to be president]."

Van Dyke then confirmed he would be voting for Biden in November and dismissed criticism of the president's age by pointing out he was 98 years old and still performing.

"I've got all my marbles," he asserted.

The actor gained fame primarily through 'The Dick Van Dyke Show,' which aired on CBS from 1961 to 1966.

His career also featured roles in iconic films such as 'Mary Poppins' (1964), 'Bye Bye Birdie,' 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,' and two installments of 'The Night at the Museum' franchise.

A comment emphasized, "He is disturbed, deranged, demented, and a danger to America. He is Unfit."

Echoing this sentiment, another comment noted, "Disturbed before, during and after because he was made that way."

Expanding on the topic, an individual elaborated further, saying, "DVD has a mind as sharp as a tack. Trump has a brain the size of one."
