COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: In a recent appearance on Fox News’ 'America Reports', Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley didn't hold back in her assessment of the GOP's future, pointing directly at her former boss and rival Donald Trump as "the problem".

In response to Vice President Kamala Harris' announcement that she was "ready to serve", Haley seized the moment to caution Republicans about the potential consequences of nominating Trump in the upcoming election.

Haley rails against Trump

“This is what I will tell you,” Haley began. “There will be a female president of the United States. The hard truth is it will either be me or it will be Kamala Harris. If you look at any of those general election polls, Trump loses to Biden, I defeat Biden. There was another Marquette poll that showed Wisconsin, I defeat Biden by 15 points. Trump can’t defeat Biden.”

Haley highlighted Trump's electoral vulnerabilities, contrasting her own strengths against his perceived weaknesses. She pointed to polls indicating her ability to defeat Biden, contrasting it with Trump's track record of losses in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

"But even look at what happened last week," she continued. "Trump loses the court case on immunity. They lose the bill on Mayorkas. They lose the bill on Israel. And you have the RNC chair lose her job. That’s all losing because Trump had his fingerprints on all of it. He lost in 2018. He lost in 2020. He lost in 2022. How many more times do we have to lose before we realize that he’s actually the problem?"

Haley's critique extended beyond electoral prospects, including recent setbacks within the GOP, which she attributed to Trump's influence. The imminent leadership transition at the Republican National Committee (RNC) provided further fodder for Haley's critique.

"And now you go and you look at what he did with the RNC yesterday. Now when he tried to have the RNC name him the presumptive nominee they wouldn’t do it and he had to pull back," she said.

"Now he’s going and changing out leadership so that it’s somebody that he prefers and his daughter-in-law to co-chair? He’s putting his campaign manager as the director? Are we gonna let him just take over the party that’s going to control the convention too?" Haley continued, referring to Trump's endorsement of a successor to Ronna McDaniel as chair of the Republican National Committee if she decides to step down in the coming days

"At what point do we not see the problem? We don’t have kings in this country, but we have to be part of the solution to stop it," the 2024 Republican presidential hopeful added.

In public appearances, Haley has continued to assail Trump's influence, particularly regarding his treatment of military families and his foreign policy stances.

“If you don’t know the value of our men and women in uniform, if you don’t know the sacrifice that they go through, why should I — as a military spouse and all our military families — trust you to know that you’re going to keep them out of harm’s way?" she asked.

Haley faces backlash from Trump loyalists

However, Haley's outspokenness invited swift backlash from Trump loyalists.

"Nikki ‘Braindead Birdbrain’ Haley reeks of desperation as it’s clear she knows she has no shot, and is now auditioning for a cable news contract when her 15 minutes are over. But not before she can squeeze every last dollar out of her Democrat benefactors," Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told NBC News.

Meanwhile, supporters of the former president trolled the South Carolina Republican on social media.

"Did she win anywhere?" one posted on X.

"What does it say about @NikkiHaley if she keeps losing to Trump?" another wondered.

"Every state primary she touches she loses," someone else chimed in.

"The countdown to when she bends the knee is nearing zero," another quipped.
