Dodgers honor Trump with special gift during White House World Series visit

WASHINGTON, DC: The Los Angeles Dodgers marked their 2025 World Series victory with a visit to the White House on Thursday, July 23, where owner Mark Walter presented President Donald Trump with a custom Dodgers jersey bearing the No 47 — a nod to Trump serving as the 47th president of the United States.

Walter also handed the president a championship ring as the team celebrated another title-winning season.

The symbolic jersey presentation became one of the standout moments of the ceremony, which was held in the Rose Garden before players, coaches and White House guests.

Trump praises the Los Angeles Dodgers' championship season 

During the ceremony, Trump spent nearly 20 minutes congratulating the franchise on its accomplishments and reflecting on its championship run.

The president described the Dodgers' World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays as "among the most thrilling championships in the history of the sport."  

The White House event marked the second straight year Trump welcomed the Dodgers after the team captured another World Series title.

The presentation of the custom No 47 jersey and championship ring highlighted the close of the formal ceremony as the team commemorated its latest achievement.

Los Angeles Dodgers' White House visit faced scheduling delays

Although the Dodgers traditionally visit the White House following a championship, this year's celebration was delayed by several months due to scheduling challenges.

The team opened the season with a road trip to Washington, DC, but all three games against the Washington Nationals were afternoon contests, making a White House visit difficult to arrange. 

The franchise remained quiet for some time about whether the visit would happen before eventually traveling to the nation's capital on an off day to celebrate the championship.

The appearance marked the Dodgers' third White House visit of the decade.

The team was previously welcomed by former President Joe Biden in 2021 after winning the 2020 World Series.

Los Angeles Dodgers followed championship tradition despite past debate over White House visits

White House visits by professional sports champions have often sparked public discussion during Trump's presidency, with some teams choosing not to participate while others have continued the tradition.

Despite previous controversy surrounding championship celebrations at the White House, most members of the Dodgers chose to take part in this year's visit.

The ceremony focused on recognizing the team's 2025 title while also celebrating the organization's continued success.
