PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump Jr claimed the would-be assassin of his father, Donald Trump, might have been killed if he had been under the custody of federal agents, similar to the fate of Jeffrey Epstein.

The former first son also asserted that Ryan Routh, who targeted his father, was still alive because he was in the custody of Florida in light of Gov Ron DeSantis' investigation into the attack.

However, Trump Jr omitted the fact that Epstein died while serving jail time when his father was in the White House.

The suspect, Ryan Routh, 58, of Hawaii, was arrested after he attempted to open fire at Trump, who was playing golf at his Florida golf course on Sunday, September 15. The Secret Service spotted the suspect's rifle barrel sticking through the fence; however, he fled the scene immediately. Routh was captured shortly after by local law enforcement officials.

In a clip from his latest podcast episode, 'Triggered with Donald Trump Jr', shared on X (formerly Twitter), the ex-first son claimed Ryan Routh would have faced the same fate as Jeffrey Epstein if he was handed over to the FBI's custody.

"I have a feeling we only got that information because thankfully Gov DeSantis of Florida opened up a parallel investigation is not releasing the suspect to the feds where he'd probably disappear like you know Epstein himself," Trump Jr said. "So to speak so I'm glad that's happening."

Epstein, the infamous financier, was found dead in his prison cell on August 10, 2019, at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. His death was ruled as suicide. When Epstein took his own life while awaiting trial, Trump was the president.

Prior to taking over the White House, the 45th president has had long-standing ties with Epstein, according to The Independent. Both met on multiple occasions and were pictured together and had a reported rift in the 1990s.

Trump Jr, however, overlooked the fact that the federal government was headed by his father when Epstein died of suicide as he mentioned DeSantis' investigation into the second assassination attempt on the GOP presidential nominee.

The FBI launched an investigation into the recent threat, considering it to be "an attempted assassination of former President Trump."

Nevertheless, Florida Gov DeSantis announced on X that the state would be "conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination" because "people deserve the truth" about Routh and how he got within 500 yards of Trump.

Donald Trump Jr's claim that his father's would-be assassin was still alive because he was in the custody of local law enforcement for Ron DeSantis' investigation and otherwise would be dead like Jeffrey Epstein if federal agents had him, prompted netizens to give a shocking reminder.
