NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Veteran Democratic Party strategist James Carville mocked Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' career as "toast" after his failed attempt to challenge former president Donald Trump for the GOP nomination.

Notably, DeSantis suspended his presidential campaign in January 2024 after his failed attempt to connect with primary voters and endorsed Trump, per Mediaite.

James Carville mocks Ron DeSantis' political career

During the 'Politics War Room' podcast on Thursday, August 29, James Carville and podcast co-host Al Hunt were discussing the current political situation when Carville mocked DeSantis' political career.

Carville said, "DeSantis is done, all right? He is toast. He can’t go back to the Trump people. The Moms for Liberty are getting slaughtered. Big flash point, people don’t like book burners, okay? They went all into that."

He added, "I’m very reluctant to declare anyone’s political career over, but DeSantis, you may be done, dude. You’re just done. I don’t know if you’ve got a place to go."

Carville further said that while Democrats had struggled lately to connect with voters in Florida and Texas, they should continue to fight for important Senate seats with aggression.

In the Florida school board elections, many candidates who were backed by DeSantis lost in their respective races on August 20. The governor had reportedly backed 23 candidates, out of whom 11 lost, per Politico.

The candidates endorsed by DeSantis managed to win six races, according to unofficial county election results, as another six will head to runoffs in November.

Even though Florida’s school board elections are non-partisan, candidates in a few high-profile races had endorsements and donations from conservatives like DeSantis and the parents' group Moms for Liberty, and state Democrats and the Florida Education Association.

Internet agrees with James Carville as he claims Ron DeSantis' career is over

A user said, "The worst thing he ever did was run this year. He was terrible. Looked clueless, sounded clueless and was in way over his head."

"It's a small thing compared to how sh*** of a candidate that he was overall, but how anyone let him wear those white rubber boots was such a dumb move," said another.

A person also stated, "Ron showed his stupidity when he wore those whit boots. Rons an idiot", whereas another mentioned, "The problem is he is clueless. Dude can't read a room to eave his life."

A user also wrote, "Ron, like Ted Cruz, checks all the boxes for conservatives, but brings 0% excitement and charisma.

"Ron is short on ideas. Also, short on a dais," read another comment.

A person also said, "Ran against Trump, let Florida turn blue,.. RIP RDS."
