ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: During a recent interview in Abu Dhabi, President Donald Trump escalated tensions with former FBI Director James Comey, accusing him of knowingly sharing a cryptic social media post that Trump claims alluded to his assassination.

Speaking with Fox News anchor Bret Baier on 'Special Report', Trump weighed in on Comey’s now-deleted Instagram photo featuring the numbers “8647” formed with seashells, which conservatives interpreted as “quiet resistance.”

In slang, “86” can mean "eliminate," "to get rid of," or "kill," while "47" is widely associated with Donald Trump, the 47th US president.

“He wasn't very competent. But he was competent enough to know what that meant. And, he did it for a reason,” Trump told Baier, as per Fox News Digital

Comey, who deleted his post shortly after it sparked backlash online, said he didn't know the numbers were associated with violence.

Trump, however, wasn’t buying any explanation. “He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant. If you're the FBI director, and you don't know what that meant — that meant 'assassination,' and it says it loud and clear,” the president said.

While the commander-in-chief did not explicitly call for legal action against Comey, he said the Justice Department and Secret Service are looking into it. “If he had a clean history — he doesn’t, he’s a dirty cop … I could understand if there was a leniency. But I’m going to let them make that decision,” he said.

Former FBI Director James Comey found himself at the center of an unexpected social media firestorm this week after sharing a seemingly beach photo that many interpreted as carrying a hidden political message aimed at Donald Trump.

The now-deleted Instagram post showed a cluster of seashells arranged in a pattern that some online users believed resembled the numbers “8647.”

The caption read, “Cool shell formation on my beach walk,” but the numbers interpreted by some as slang for “remove” or “eliminate” Trump, the 47th president, quickly drew backlash across social media platforms.

Facing mounting scrutiny, Comey promptly deleted the post and issued a public clarification. In a statement shared shortly, he explained that the image had no political motive.

“I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message,” Comey wrote. “I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.”

One wrote, “If you're the FBI director, you know exactly what that meant. Yes,” while another added, “I pity @Comey He acts like a child. Like most people he will be forgotten soon. He’s irrelevant.”

A person expressed, “Tear him up Mr President,” whereas someone else said, “No way a former head of the FBI, a person who prosecuted mobsters, didn't know what 86 meant. Dirty cop for sure.”

“He knew exactly what it meant and exactly what he was calling for,” an individual stated.

“I’m not buying his story that he 'didn’t know what it meant…' You were the f*****g DIRECTOR of the FBI. You know exactly what it meant and you didn’t think anything would happen. The woke mob eventually convinced itself that assassinations are worthwhile. It’s insane,” another tweet read.
