DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Donald Trump made yet another bold claim about his popularity among women during a rally in Detroit, Michigan.

Despite his long-standing efforts to curtail reproductive rights, the former president insisted that women adore him because he makes them feel safe, sparking widespread ridicule.

Donald Trump has painted himself as the 'protector' of women

While speaking at the Detroit rally on Thursday, October 10, Donald Trump remarked, "Somebody said, ‘We love Trump policy, but we don't like Trump’. I think they do."

He added confidently, "They said, the women don’t like me. I think women love me because they want to be safe and with me, they’re safe. With other people, they’re not safe. It’s true."

This statement is not a one-off occurrence for the GOP nominee who has previously cast himself as a protector of women.

Just a month prior, at a rally in Pennsylvania, he promised women, "You will no longer be abandoned, lonely, or scared. You will no longer be in danger... You will no longer have anxiety from all of the problems our country has today. You will be protected, and I will be your protector."

Trump’s remarks, however, stand in stark contrast to his actual policies, particularly his role in the rollback of reproductive rights, which many women view as an attack on their autonomy.

In fact, the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade — a ruling that guaranteed a constitutional right to abortion — has been celebrated by the MAGA spearhead as one of his administration’s major achievements.

His appointment of three conservative justices was instrumental in this decision, a fact that former President Barack Obama was quick to highlight in his response to Trump’s "protector" narrative, according to NBC News.

Speaking at an event in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Obama mocked the Republican's claims, saying, "He said, ‘Don’t worry, women. I will be your protector.’ I will tell you how he ‘protected’ you. He hand-picked three of the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe, went out and bragged about it, and now there are Trump abortion bans in 20 states."

Donald Trump's comments about women feeling safe around him spark mockery

Donald Trump's remarks about his popularity among women failed to resonate with the netizens.

One claimed, "Women hate his guts. And everything else on and around him. We hate his makeup, too," and another said, "Women who are intelligent and know their worth hate this SOB."

"Well I’m a woman and I can’t stand your sorry lieing a**, and wouldn’t want to be in a hundred mile radius of you, your not my type," wrote a person, while someone else remarked, "Not only don’t like-HATE!!! Women HATE you."

"As a secure (non-handmaiden, non-stepford wife) woman, he makes me sick. I wouldn't trust him if he was the last person on earth. He's a pig. Disgusting," stated one more.

An individual expressed, "Good luck convincing women to feel safe around you, that’s gotta be a real challenge."
