Donald Trump mocked after he falsely claims perfect record against Nikki Haley in GOP primaries
WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump made misleading claims about his performance against Nikki Haley in the current GOP presidential primary cycle.
Contrary to his assertions, the former United Nations Ambassador actually defeated the former president in two races earlier this year, according to The Hill.
Donald Trump says he is 'disappointed' about Nikki Haley
During an interview on Newsmax on Tuesday, June 4, Trump was asked about the possibility of selecting Haley as his running mate.
However, he did not address the question directly and falsely claimed that he had an unblemished record in the primary contests.
“As far as Nikki is concerned, I was very disappointed in her because she stayed too long. And remember, I beat her in her own state. I beat her very badly everywhere,” said the 77-year-old politician.
“You know, I set records in the primaries. People don’t, you know, wanna talk about it, but if it was somebody else other than me, they’d say, ‘Wow, what a job,'” he continued.
“We won every primary in a record. We beat her in her state, South Carolina, — where she was governor — by record numbers. If you look at the kind of numbers we got, they’re incredible,” Trump added.
While it is true that the former president defeated Haley in her home state of South Carolina by nearly 20 points, his claim of an undefeated record against her is wrong.
In Washington DC, Haley emerged victorious as she defeated Trump by an impressive 29 points.
In Vermont, she secured a five-point lead over the former president.
Nikki Haley announced she will vote for Donald Trump
Haley who recently announced that she would support Trump over President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential elections, withdrew from the GOP presidential primary in March after a series of disappointing outcomes.
She cited the need for debt reduction, capitalism, and border security as reasons behind her endorsement of Trump.
In May, the former president noted that Haley is "not under consideration" for his vice president pick. However, he wished "her well" and suggested she could join his team if reelected.
