WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump became the target of furious trolling on social media as he claimed that “God” is going to help him win the presidential election in 2024.

The 77-year-old front-runner for the GOP nomination took to his social media platform, Truth Social on Sunday, December 24 to convey warm wishes for a happy, joyous, and wonderful Christmas season.

In the video, posted on his Truth Social account, the former President emphasized the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ and highlighted the ancient story as a source of joy, hope, and peace.

“In this holy time of year, Christians everywhere give thanks that over 2,000 years ago, God sent his only son into the world to be the savior of all mankind. The birth of Jesus Christ is the true miracle we celebrate each Christmas,” Trump continued.

“He is the ultimate source of our joy, our hope, and our sense of peace, and goodwill as we gather with family and loved ones. It is such a great time of the year. This is why we can never stop saying that beautiful phrase, 'Merry Christmas',” he added.

He concluded the message by claiming that God’s help would lead him to win the presidential race next year. “We pray for the safety of our men and women in uniform at home and abroad. And we ask God to guide us, give us strength, and watch over us in this pivotal year ahead,” Trump expressed.

“With His help, by this time next year, we will be well on our way to making America safer, stronger, greater, and more prosperous than ever before,” he concluded.

Trump accuses Biden of overseeing Soviet-style persecution of Catholics

Trump’s Christmas wishes came just a few days after he accused President Joe Biden of overseeing a Soviet-style persecution of Catholics and claimed that FBI undercover spies were preparing to infiltrate the churches.

“Under crooked Joe Biden, Christians and Americans of faith are being persecuted like nothing this nation has ever seen before,” Trump said in the video posted to Truth Social.

“Catholics in particular are being targeted and evangelicals are surely on the watch list as well. Over the past three years, the Biden administration has sent SWAT teams to arrest pro-life activists.”

“The FBI has been caught profiling devout Catholics as possible domestic terrorists and planning to send undercover spies into Catholic churches, just like in the old days of the Soviet Union,” he continued.

Internet reacts to Trump’s claims

After Trump’s Christmas video surfaced on social media, many users mocked him for claiming that “God” is going to help him win the presidential election in 2024.

“Since when are we a theocracy? What happened to democracy?” one user questioned.

“You see? That's why I'm an atheist,” the second user mocked.

“I recall when Trump was asked if he ever asked God for forgiveness, he said, “I’m not sure I have,” the third user slammed.

A fourth user wrote, “He and his alternate facts are praying to an alternate god.”

“God is listening to Jack Smith, Ruby Freeman, Alexander Vindman, Letitia James, Fani Willis, Hillary Clinton, and scores of others. Certainly not you,” the fifth user attacked.

“God won’t even help him apply his make-up. I think he’s on his own with the election,” another user said.

One user wrote, "Devine delusion."
