LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former president Donald Trump said on Friday, September 13, that California GOP Senate candidate Steve Garvey must initiate contact with him and his supporters to secure an endorsement.

Garvey is running for the California Senate seat left open by Democratic Senator Laphonza Butler.

“I don’t know much about Steve Garvey,” Trump said on Friday, September 13.

“I think he’s made a big mistake because he hasn’t reached out to MAGA, and if he doesn’t have MAGA he’s got no chance," Trump said after he was asked why he he isn't getting an endorsement, The Hill reported.

Even though Trump claimed Garvey could win if he got the “MAGA endorsement,” he also said that Garvey couldn’t win because California doesn’t have fair elections.

“If you had an honest election, he’d win. But you don’t have an honest election,” said Trump while adding that Schiff is favored to win the race in deep blue California.

Meanwhile, Trump called Garvey “a nice guy,” but said he doesn’t “know him at all.” He said he has not spoken to Garvey, but suggested Garvey should call him.

On Friday, September 13, Garvey said he is “running a ‘Steve Garvey’ campaign for all the people of California, not for partisan or special interests.”

Steve Garvey says he's running a different type of campaign to win

In response to Donald Trump’s comments, Steve Garvey said he was running “a different type of campaign” in which he has “not taken or asked for a single political endorsement, other than from “the law enforcement community and first responders," LA Times reported.

Garvey has expressed his commitment to engaging with California's Latino community and addressing the issues that are most important to Californians, including affordability, public safety, border security, resolving the homelessness crisis, and reinstating California's leadership.

Schiff is Trump's long-time critic who led investigations into the former president's campaign ties to Russia, his first impeachment for soliciting political favors from Ukraine, and his second impeachment for inciting the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.

Donald Trump also didn't hold back in his attack against Adam Schiff. He said he 'couldn't represent California.'

“And to think he’s going to be a senator,” Trump said, adding "That’s why you need me as president, because this guy is a sleazeba\g am Schiff to represent this area is impossible to believe.”

Meanwhile, Schiff has consistently defended his work as standing up to a “corrupt president.” On Friday, September 13. he posted a video of Trump making fresh attacks. He wrote, “I don’t think he likes me.”
