WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Adam Schiff, a prominent Democrat in the House, who has been a vocal opponent of former president Donald Trump, has reportedly disclosed to Democratic donors in private that he believes his party may lose significant ground in November if Joe Biden stays at the top of the ticket.

Schiff, the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee who is now running for a Senate seat in California, reportedly made the comment on Saturday, July 13, at a fundraiser in East Hampton, New York, just hours before the assassination attempt against former president Donald Trump.

What did Senator Adam Schiff say?

"I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose," New York Times quoted Schiff stating, according to someone with access to a transcription of a recording of the fundraiser. "And we may very, very well lose the Senate and lose our chance to take back the House," he added.

Joe Biden and his campaign staff have been unwilling to listen to the views of outside pollsters

Furthermore, according to the outlet, which cited two sources with firsthand knowledge of Schiff's comments, Schiff asserted that Biden and his campaign staff ought to pay more attention to the opinions of outside pollsters and political experts as they have previously shown little interest in doing so.

Attendee donors told the newspaper that they were disappointed with the event and that, given Biden's unlikely victory, donors should now concentrate on endorsing candidates further down the ballot.

Joe Biden has faced pressure to drop out of the presidential race

Biden has been under pressure to withdraw from the presidential race following his widely criticized performance in the June 27 debate. However, those calls have decreased in light of Trump's shooting this past weekend.

Adam Schiff admitted publicly to having doubts that Joe Biden could beat Donald Trump

Schiff openly acknowledged earlier this month that he didn't think Biden could defeat Trump in a straight-up contest. He told NBC News that Biden should really think about whether running for president is the right decision because his declining health is the main factor hurting him in the contest.

"But the performance on the debate stage I think rightfully raised questions among the American people about whether the president has the vigor to defeat Donald Trump," Schiff said at the time.

Internet supports Adam Schiff as he predicts fate of the Democrats before the upcoming election

Netizens agreed with Schiff as he expressed concern over the Democratic party's chances of winning the upcoming presidential contest to the donors. Several political pundits have urged the president to step down and the recent poll results also alarming results for the Biden campaign.

One X user tweeted, "The first truthful thing Schiff has said in a decade." Another wrote, "I think anything they do at this point makes them lose. They have tried EVERYTHING to stop Trump and everything that fails just makes him more popular. They don't know when to quit."

"The dems are finished anyway, they have been EXPOSED, their devils," added one while a user remarked, "The only true thing he ever said." "Democrats have already lost, because they still haven’t distanced themselves from this pathological liar," echoed one.
