Trump set for first interview since CNN debate, Internet urges host to ask ex-POTUS 'hard questions'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump will sit for an interview on Monday, July 8, for the first time since the debate against President Joe Biden.
The 77-year-old will be questioned by Sean Hannity for 'Hannity' on the said date at 9 pm ET. The interview will focus on the growing calls for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race.
Trump previously appeared for an interview on the Fox News exclusive show to talk about the status of the nation and his political campaign after being found guilty last month of 34 counts of falsifying business records in New York v Trump.
Donald Trump on whether he wants vengeance and eradicate political opponents
Sean Hannity asked the former president, should he run for office again in 2025, what he would say to those who think he wants to exact revenge and will use the legal system to target his political rivals.
"No 1, they're wrong," Trump replied. "It has to stop, because otherwise, we're not going to have a country. Look, when this election is over, based on what they've done, I would have every right to go after them, and it's easy, because it's Joe Biden and you see all the criminality, all of the money that's going into the family and him, all of this money from China, from Russia, from Ukraine."
Donald Trump challenged Joe Biden for another debate last week
Donald Trump challenged Joe Biden for another square-off last Thursday, July 4, but with a clause - that there would be no moderators this time.
The Republican candidate asked Biden to have a "no holds barred" and "all on" conversation about the nation's future in a Truth Social post.
It is not surprising that he is eager to face Biden once more given that the Democratic president is generally believed to have fallen short in their first meeting during the 2024 presidential contest.
Joe Biden's debate performance sparked widespread panic among Democrats
Opponents of the 81-year-old incumbent Joe Biden called for him to step down in favor of a younger, more capable candidate after he gave a halting speech and stammered through his responses during the CNN Presidential Debate in Atlanta, while terrifying many Democrats.
Joe Biden said he's not going anywhere
Thus far, Joe Biden has doggedly rejected the demands to resign. "I'm not going anywhere," he declared to the crowd during remarks at a Fourth of July celebration held at the White House.
One day later, Biden told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News that he was the most competent rival of Trump in November and he would withdraw only at the command of the "Lord Almighty."
Ex-President Barack Obama's advisor called out Joe Biden following his ABC interview
The president was accused of "denial, delusion, and defiance" by former Barack Obama advisor David Axelrod after Joe Biden's post-debate interview received harsh criticism.
"Biden could be excused for wanting to put his awful debate performance in the rear view mirror. That was his purpose Friday in sitting down for the interview — to try and quell the panic that has gripped the Democratic Party," Axelrod wrote in a CNN op-ed. "He didn't succeed."
Internet eagerly anticipates Donald Trump's post-presidential debate interview
Netizens eagerly awaited the former president's one-on-one interaction with Sean Hannity following his successful debate show against Joe Biden.
One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "He needs to talk about Project 25 and Agenda 47. Lots of misinformation out there floating around."
Another suggested, "I hope Sean asks him about his healthcare plan and how he’s going to make our lives better, if elected."
"Good would love to hear Hannity play devils advocate and ask some tough but honest and relevant questions for Trump to answer about exactly what and how he plans to do things when he gets elected for the American people," added one.
"Hannity will be asking the hard questions. Trump’s body will be present but since he’s lost his mind that won’t be available," remarked one user.
