WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump insisted on Thursday, July 25, that his right ear was injured by a bullet at a campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

This statement comes in response to FBI Director Christopher Wray's suggestion that it was still an open question whether the former president was struck by a bullet or shrapnel.

Donald Trump's response on Truth Social

Slamming Christopher Wray for his doubts on the nature of injury in the assassination attempt against Donald Trump, the former president took to Truth Social to bring in attention to the FBI director's remarks that he had not noticed cognitive decline in President Joe Biden during their limited interactions and the 'J6 patriots' prosecution following the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.

"FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively “uneventful” - Wrong!" the 78-year-old politician posted.

“No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel,” added Trump.

“The hospital called it a ‘bullet wound to the ear,’ and that is what it was. No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!” he continued.

Christopher Wray's congressional testimony

During his testimony before Congress on Wednesday, July 24, in connection with the investigation into the attempted assassination against Donald Trump, Christopher Wray shared his suspicions with the lawmakers.

“I think with respect to former president Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear,” he said.

The FBI has maintained in a statement that it had been "consistent and clear" since the day of the rally shooting that the incident was an assassination attempt.

The shooting also resulted in the death of one rally attendee and injured two others.

“This was a heinous attack and the FBI is devoting enormous resources to learn everything possible about the shooter and what led to his act of violence,” said the FBI, according to The Hill.

“The FBI’s Shooting Reconstruction Team continues to examine evidence from the scene, including bullet fragments, and the investigation remains ongoing,” the bureau added.
