Donald Trump slams ‘stupid’ NFL owners as Shedeur Sanders remains undrafted after three rounds

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump fumed at NFL franchises after former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was not picked in the first three rounds of drafting.
The third round of the drafting ended on Friday, April 25, night but the 23-year-old’s future is still not certain, as reported by Fox News.

Donald Trump blasts NFL franchises, calls them ‘stupid'
Taking to Truth Social, President Trump wrote, “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!”
“Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be “picked” IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!” he added.

Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, spent his final two years in college with the Buffaloes. Sanders led the Big 12 Conference with 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdown passes and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. In his 50 college games, Sanders threw for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
He was widely expected to be one of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft. But he shockingly remains available for the fourth round on Saturday, April 26.

A fan remarked, "They doing Shedeur Sanders so wrong rn… smh 🤦🏾♂️."
"Crazy to think that Shedeur Sanders is not drafted yet. Everyone is blaming the league and the owners. But, what if it’s something he did? So many players have fallen based on character. It’s happened hundreds of times. I’ve never seen the script flip this hard, you gotta wonder who’s to blame? Are they really making a statement, or did he hurt himself with his team meetings? Either way the talent is legit. Curious to see what happens tomorrow," a user added.

Shedeur Sanders expresses gratitude to God

But despite the slide in the NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders has remained optimistic.
He tweeted on Friday, April 25, “Thank you GOD for EVERYTHING.”
Earlier on the first day of the drafting, he had written, “I’m built for whatever today may bring.”

Donald Trump's past criticism of NFL
Meanwhile, this was not the first time Donald Trump blasted the NFL.
In 2017, amid national anthem protests by the players, the Republican leader had said, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you’d say, ‘Get that son of a b***h off the field right now. Out! He’s fired!’” as per NBC News.

Besides, earlier this year, Trump faced opposition from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after he issued an executive order asking federal departments to end diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.
Goodell said, as per Reuters, “We got into diversity efforts because we felt it was the right thing for the National Football League and we're going to continue those efforts. We're going to continue those efforts because we’ve not only convinced ourselves, I think we’ve proven ourselves that it does make the NFL better.”

“We’re not in this because it’s a trend to get in or a trend to get out of it. Our efforts are fundamental in trying to attract the best possible talent into the National Football League both on and off the field,” he added.
Goodell also asserted, "We see how it’s benefited the National Football League and so I think we’ll continue those efforts.”
