MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Amidst his ongoing hush money trial, Donald Trump took a moment to send birthday wishes to his wife Melania Trump.

Expressing his desire to be with Melania on her birthday, the former president spoke from Manhattan criminal court as he lamented he is being tied up in what he called a "rigged trial", according to The Guardian.

Donald Trump claims 'we're doing well in this rigged trial'

Addressing reporters with his legal team by his side inside the court, Trump said, "I want to start by wishing my wife Melania a very happy birthday."

"Would be nice to be with her but I'm at a courthouse for a rigged trial," he shared.

"But we're doing very well in this rigged trial. Everybody knows it. Yesterday was a big day. But I do have to begin by wishing Melania a happy birthday. She's in Florida," Trump added.

The 77-year-old businessman said that after this "horrible, unconstitutional case" wraps for the week, he would be going to Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach on Friday, April 26, to join his wife.

Donald Trump says the hush money trial 'should be over'

Trump is facing charges on 34 counts of allegedly falsifying his business records concerning "hush" payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their alleged affair.

After he wished Melania on her special day, he complained the trial "should be over. The case is over."

On Friday, April 26, his attorneys prepared during the trial to continue the cross-examination of David Pecker, ex-National Enquirer publisher who testified about a secret "deal" with the former president to handle his negative stories during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Donald Trump complains court purposefully maintained freezing temperatures

Complaining about the courtroom conditions, particularly the temperature, Trump claimed the court purposefully maintained freezing temperatures.

"So we have another day of court in a freezing courthouse. It's very cold in there," he said.

"On purpose, I believe. They don’t seem to be able to get the temperature up. It shouldn’t be that complicated," he added.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's birthday wishes to his wife Melania

After Trump wished the former first lady on her special day and complained about being stuck in the courtroom, netizens trolled the former president.

"Apparently, she didn't want to spend her birthday with you. When you show up to court without the support of your family, it says a lot about you," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

One user tweeted, "Looks like Trump's "court appearance" is just another excuse to avoid spending time with Melania. He'd probably rather be golfing!"

"I think the judge gave Melania a birthday present by having Donald spend her birthday in court," a netizen commented.

"He’s most likely never spent a birthday with Melinia ever," a user wrote and another user wrote, "I’m guessing Melania wouldn’t let him near her on her birthday today."
