MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Madeleine Westerhout, a former aide to Donald Trump, shed light on the former president's reaction to Stormy Daniels scandal.

Trump's attorney Susan Necheles cross-examined Westerhout about her time in the White House during the court proceedings for the ongoing hush money trial on Friday, May 10, according to CNN.

“Did you have a conversation with President Trump about that?” asked Necheles, to which Westerhout said "Yes."

The attorney then asked what was her impression of Trump's reaction to the scandal story at the time based on Westerhout's conversation with the former president.

"He was very upset by it," said Westerhout, adding, "In my understanding, he knew it would be hurtful to his family."

Necheles then asked Westerhout if Trump knowing the story would hurt his family was based on what he said to her, and she replied, "Uhm, I don’t believe he specifically said that, but I could just tell that the whole situation was very unpleasant."

Madeleine Westerhout claims Donald Trump closely scrutinized checks he signed

Westerhout, the former director of Oval Office Operations at the White House testified on Thursday, May 9, about Trump's scrutiny of the checks he signed while he served as the president and that he would contact Trump Organization employees to clarify about the checks.

This revelation is significant as it contradicts the defense argument that Trump was detached from the deal to reimburse his then-lawyer Michael Cohen for the alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels and he was not directly aware of the purpose of the checks to Cohen were for.

Internet reacts to Madeleine Westerhout's claim that Donald Trump was upset by Stormy Daniels' story

Reacting to Westerhout's testimony that Trump was upset about the Daniels story, one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "She’s still glued to Trump! She just talked to defense two days ago."

One user wrote, "It would hurt a hell of a lot more than his family at that point, which we all know he doesn't give a damn about otherwise he wouldn't have continuously cheated."

"Doesn’t saying “my understanding “ mean someone told her that? Like her lawyer?" a netizen commented while another user tweeted, "How could it be hurtful if it never happened."

"Didn’t care about his family. Wanted to become president," a user opined while another user wrote, "She made the mistake of thinking he’s human."
