WASHINGTON, DC: With just days to go before Donald Trump officially becomes the 47th President of the United States (again!), his inauguration portrait has been finally unveiled—and is making quite the first impression.

The official portrait — along with one for Vice President-elect JD Vance — was released on social media by chief photographer Daniel Torok, and it’s already heightened excitement among Trump supporters gearing up for January 20.

Conservative circles on X wasted no time sharing a video of the inauguration invitation alongside the portrait.

“He looks like he means business!” one fan gushed, while another wrote, “Trump looks very serious and ready to get things done.”

“Pretty much sums up the feelings of true Americans. Enough nonsense, let’s get back to authentic America. God Bless President Trump. We are all so fortunate he did not give up on us. Continuing to pray for his safety and for every one of us," read a comment.

Donald Trump mugshot deja vu?

Social media sleuths couldn’t help but point out the striking resemblance between the new portrait and his infamous mugshot from August 2023. You remember the one—Donald Trump, turning himself in at Fulton County Jail after that grand jury indictment on racketeering charges.

That mugshot, by the way, didn’t just break the internet; it minted Trump millions—$7.1 million in merch sales to be exact.

Trump’s former adviser Stephen Miller even called the mugshot “the most powerful image” he’d ever seen. “One man and his two eyes looked straight into the hearts of the American people and said, ‘I will not give up … I will not surrender,’” Miller declared on Fox News.

So, was the portrait a nod to that viral moment? Fans on social media couldn’t decide.

“Oddly similar to the mugshot. Intentional?” one asked.

Another chimed in, “I can’t tell if it’s his mugshot or not—if not, it’s damn close.”

Someone else gushed: “That looks like the mugshot. And wow, was that a failure of the left!!! Trump gained support from it!!!”

Yet another quipped, "That is AWESOME!!! Georgia must be so proud! Living well is indeed the best revenge."

The countdown to Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20

Donald Trump’s second inauguration promises to be nothing short of historic. The ceremony will take place on the West Front of the US Capitol in Washington, DC, marking the start of his second—and final—non-consecutive term as president.

The day’s agenda is packed. First, Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office, followed by Trump’s much-anticipated inaugural address. Promising a unifying tone, Trump is set to kick off his presidency with a signing ceremony, an inaugural luncheon, a pass-in-review, and a parade.

But not everyone’s planning to show up. Several Democratic lawmakers have announced they’re skipping the event—again.

Back in 2017, over 60 Democratic legislators boycotted Trump’s first inauguration, branding him “illegitimate” and “dangerous.” Fast forward eight years, and while many Democrats are sitting this one out, they’re blaming “scheduling conflicts” this time, the Washington Times reported.

Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted, “I think it’s just kind of a general conflict of logistics,” while Rep Jasmine Crockett from Texas didn’t mince words.

“Considering this is also Martin Luther King Day, it just seems like the worst way to spend the day, knowing that I would be celebrating someone who really is going to work very hard to tear down the legacy in which literally he lived and died for,” she said.

Carrie Underwood and Kid Rock to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration

This year’s lineup of performers at Donald Trump's inauguration is loaded with country legends and patriotic performers.

Lee Greenwood, Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, and Rascal Flatts are all set to take the stage. Throw in Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Aldean, and a performance of the national anthem by classical vocalist Christopher Macchio, and it’s shaping up to be a star-studded affair.

Liberty University’s Praise Choir will also make an appearance, and rumor has it there’s a surprise musical guest slated for the Liberty Inaugural Ball (Any guesses?).

After the ceremony, Trump will ride from the Capitol to the White House in a motorcade featuring military regiments, bands, and citizens’ groups.

The atmosphere in Washington is expected to be electric as the MAGA world celebrates his return to the White House, while detractors brace for what comes next.
