LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel, the comedian and host took a bold step during the 2024 Oscars by choosing to read out Donald Trump’s social media post live on stage.

This unexpected move occurred on Sunday, March 10, and certainly caught the attention of many in the audience.

Jimmy Kimmel’s spontaneous decision at the Oscars to read Donald Trump's review went against him

The following day on March 11, while conversing with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Kimmel, 56, shared that the executives were less than thrilled with his impromptu decision.

Despite being cautioned against it, he humorously recounted he went ahead.“They’re like, ‘You’ve got a little bit of time’ and I was like, ‘I’m reading the Trump tweet,’ and they’re like, ‘No, no, don’t read that.'” Kimmel said, reported Variety.

He admitted to laughing off the concerns, determined to proceed with his plan.

Donald Trump’s scathing review of Jimmy Kimmel and the Oscars

"Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars?" Trump’s post began, disparaging Kimmel’s performance.

He went on to suggest replacing Kimmel with “another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos,” misnaming George Stephanopoulos, the former White House Communications Director.

Trump continued, "He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous."

Trump didn’t stop there; he criticized the show for being a “ really bad politically correct show,” adding it was “disjointed,” “boring,” and “very unfair."

In his suggestion, the Oscars were unfair and if given to deserving it will increase the show's rating.

"Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them?" Trump added. "Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!."

Jimmy Kimmel then read, “Blah, blah, blah, make America great again,” before playfully challenging the audience to guess the author of the post.

In a humorous twist, Kimmel thanked the former president for tuning in. Kimmel jokingly added, “Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still – isn’t it past your jail time?”

Kimmel added that he was “feeling pretty good” after the 2024 ceremony, which marked his fourth time hosting the Oscars.

He also weighed in on the viral final moment of the show, which saw Al Pacino awkwardly presenting the best picture to 'Oppenheimer.' Instead of reading the nominees, Pacino just opened the envelope and said, 'And my eyes see ‘Oppenheimer.'

“I guess he’s never watched an awards show before,” Kimmel said adding, “It seems like everyone in America knows the rhythm of how it’s supposed to go…down to the ‘And the Oscar goes to…’ But not Al Pacino! God bless him.”
