WASHINGTON, DC: Dr Mehmet Oz aka Dr Oz faced mockery on social media as his look closely resembled that of President Donald Trump during his appearance before the Senate Finance Committee on Friday, March 14, reported the Irish Star.

The 64-year-old celebrity doctor was dressed in a blue suit paired with a red tie and a US flag pin on the lapel, a signature look of the 78-year-old commander-in-chief. However, the most striking similarity between Trump and Oz was the hair, which the latter had dyed blond.

Why was Dr Mehmet Oz in the Senate?

Dr Oz has been appointed by the POTUS to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under his second administration and was present at the Senate on Friday for his confirmation hearing. In his new position, Oz reportedly plans to reduce soaring healthcare costs and high obesity rates throughout the country.

Before turning into a popular television pitchman, Dr Oz was an acclaimed heart surgeon. He went on to host 'The Dr Oz Show', which ran for 13 seasons from 2009 to 2022.

Promoting products ranging from supplements to private health insurance plans, Oz reportedly amassed a fortune between $98 million and $332 million. The analysis used by the Irish Star to report the figure listed his asset values in ranges instead of precise dollar figures.

The Senate hearing of Dr Oz comes after several members of the Trump administration have been approved. That includes Robert F Kennedy Jr as the director of Health and Human Services and Pam Bondi as the United States Attorney General.

Internet mocks Dr Mehmet Oz for his Donald Trump-inspired look

Netizens were quick to troll Dr Oz over his appearance at the Senate confirmation hearing.

One wrote, "A well-paid idiot!" and another jibed, "Next… orange spray tan."

"He and Donnie had a sleepover and did each other's hair!" a person mocked, while someone else added, "Oz went to his stylist and said 'give me the full Trump.'"

"Is it just me or does Oz look like he’s morphed into looking like a mini-Trump doll? Weird and creepy," an individual observed.

One more wrote, "Did Dr Oz change his hair to match Trump's? Wtf. He looks utterly clownish," whereas another person added, "As with most cults, the leader sets the look."
