Dua Lipa 'heartbroken' as she's forced to cancel Jakarta concert over stage safety concerns
JAKARTA, INDONESIA: Dua Lipa canceled her highly anticipated concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, citing stage safety concerns that made the venue unsuitable for her performance.
The pop star, who was set to perform on Saturday, November 9, expressed deep disappointment at not being able to proceed with the show.
Dua Lipa cancels Jakarta concert over staging concerns
Hours before the concert, Dua Lipa shared the news with fans, revealing that unforeseen issues with the staging prevented her from performing as planned, TMZ reported.
The 'Break My Heart' singer posted the cancellation on her Instagram Stories, saying, “I am heartbroken to share that I won’t be able to perform in Jakarta this Saturday, November 9.”
She noted that she was already in Jakarta and eager to perform, but the stage's condition forced her to make the difficult decision to cancel.
"I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform," she wrote, “but I am gutted to share that it has been determined that it is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging."
Lipa shared that this event was especially meaningful for her, as it had been a long time since she last performed in Jakarta.
“I was so looking forward to this night, and it truly pains me that we cannot perform for you all,” said the 'New Rules' singer.
She assured fans that refunds would be issued and expressed her eagerness to return soon.
"I love you all and truly can't wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible," she concluded the post.
Recent stage accidents involving Olivia Rodrigo and Chris Martin
Dua Lipa's concern for stage safety follows recent high-profile incidents involving other performers.
Last month, Olivia Rodrigo took a frightening fall on stage during her performance in Melbourne, Australia.

The 21-year-old Disney alum was running across the stage when she accidentally fell into an open hole in the stage's center.
“It was really scary,” Rodrigo recalled on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon', on October 29, adding that watching the incident back on video was "pretty terrifying."
Despite the scare and a brief hospital visit, Rodrigo noted, “The show must go on, that’s show business baby,” and described her experience as “a beautiful thing.”
Similarly, Coldplay's Chris Martin experienced a close call during a recent performance in Australia, accidentally falling into a hole on stage.

Martin quickly recovered, addressing the audience, “That’s uh, not planned. Thank you for catching me, so much. Thank you, guys,” and humorously adding, “Holy sh*t, that was nearly a YouTube moment," CNN noted.
Just weeks ago, Billie Eilish also experienced a fall while performing at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The 22-year-old singer tripped and fell off stage, later sharing a picture of a sizable bruise on her Instagram Stories.
Eilish, captioning the image with “But literally,” expressed her thanks for fan support as they expressed their concern for her.
