Swifties believe Dua Lipa called out Taylor Swift in recent interview, here's why
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Pop sensation Taylor Swift fans (commonly known as Swifties) have taken offense at something Dua Lipa said in a recent interview, which many found to be a subtle jab at the 'Anti-Hero' singer.
Following an interview with Anderson Cooper from the Sunday, September 15 episode of CBS series '60 Minutes,' the 29-year-old singer faced criticism for her songs' perceived lack of "a sense of who you are."
Lipa's response eventually sparked a wave amongst the Swifties who claimed that she subtly aimed the 'Cruel Summer' hitmaker.

What did Dua Lipa say in the CBS series '60 Minutes' interview?
Although the 'Levitating' singer lags behind the 'Anti-Hero' singer in the music industry, she has a whopping 87.6 million Instagram followers and over 45 billion streams of her music, per '60 Minutes.'
However, Dua Lipa does not enjoy employing the tactic that made Taylor Swift so famous among her fans, that is sharing intimate facts about her dating past and personal life through her hit tracks.
Since Lipa rarely sings about her personal life, CBS' Anderson Cooper noted that she is "not pouring out your innermost fears and desires and wants," per Newsweek.
Keeping her response intriguing, Lipa responded, "Some people are just so ruthless with their own private life that they decide to put it all out in a song, because they know that it's gonna attract people's attention."
"And for me, it was always important to make music that people really loved. Not because I was putting someone out on blast, or not because I'm doing it for the clickbait at maybe someone else's expense," the 'One Kiss' singer added.

Here's why Swifties believe Dua Lipa subtly shaded Taylor Swift
The segment where Dua Lipa discussed putting people on blast "in a song" is the one that eventually caught Swifties' attention because that's what the 'Bad Blood' hitmaker does after a disastrous split or feud.
Swift's most recent emotive and personal album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' broke records as soon as it was released, including her own.
She produced one of the greatest diss tunes ever with 'thanK you aIMee.' Even though she never mentioned Kim Kardashian by name, that song was most likely about her animosity with the 'Kardashians' star. Swift moreover uppercased Kim in the song which caught fans' attention.
Swift won multiple accolades for 'Fortnight' from The Tortured Poets Department during the Wednesday, September 11, MTV Video Music Awards—including Song of the Summer, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Best Collaboration with Post Malone—making her the most decorated solo artist in VMA history.
Swifties express their displeasure with Dua Lipa's statement
Despite Dua Lipa not mentioning anyone, Swifties immediately expressed their displeasure with her remarks on X (formerly Twitter). One wrote, "Yah I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that this was a thinly veiled, albeit harmless, shot at Taylor Swift."
A second user added, "I really hate when artists do this. Dua Lipa could just say she isn’t a confessional songwriter herself and leave it at that. Instead she acts out of insecurity shading other women. It’s so disrespectful to minimise the artistry of women like Lana, Taylor, Olivia, Sabrina etc."
A third commented, "“Attract people’s attention” baby music and writing especially comes naturally to real artists and if that’s not the case well."
"And this is exactly why she won’t last in this industry. No one knows who “Dua Lipa” is other than the cute pop star. In order for an artist to thrive and build a fanbase the audience needs to be able to connect to something. Fans aren’t gonna stick around for soulless pop music," remarked another.

One added, "She wants to make generic pop music - that’s fine. But no need to shade other artists."
"I watched the full package when it aired and there were several times she threw ricks at TS," chimed in another.
Another added, "Taylor writes songs not to “attract people attention” but to process what it’s happening in her life, take a look at the Cardigan MV where she is lost in the sea and she’s holding the piano to get through the storm. What a poor statement from Dua."
