WASHINGTON, DC: Simone Garcia Johnson, known professionally as Ava or Ava Raine and daughter of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, released a post criticizing US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump administration.
The criticism followed her recent departure announcement from WWE.World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Her remarks, shared on X, have drawn attention as a bold political statement from the 24-year-old former wrestling personality.
Ava Raine shows her disdain for ICE
The post, which has since been deleted along with her X account, featured a middle-finger emoji aimed at ICE and 'that entire administration,' referring to former President Donald Trump’s administration and its immigration enforcement policies.
“And now that I can say this with my full chest, [middle finger emoji] ICE and that entire administration,” Ava wrote in a Sunday, Feb 1, post.
Needless to say, online readers perceived it as a shot at ICE and the Trump administration and their potential policies on immigration and deportations in 2026.
Simone Alexandra Johnson quits WWE, makes news
On Friday, Jan 30, it was revealed that Ava would not be renewing her contract with WWE, which she had been under since 2020.
Ava had been signed with WWE since 2020 and had made her on-screen television debut on the Oct 25, 2022, edition of NXT, where she became a part of the Schism faction led by Joe Gacy.
She was also named of the new General Manager of NXT on Jan 23, 2024, becoming the youngest person in WWE history to hold the role at the age of 22.
Ava is a fourth-generation wrestler like her dad, granddad Rocky Johnson and great-granddad High Chief Peter Maivia.
WWE confirmed her choice not to renew her contract at the end of January, marking her exit from the organization after a six-year professional run.
Despite long portraying itself as apolitical, WWE has maintained close ties to Trump.
Ava's public criticism of ICE and the administration therefore, stood out sharply within the company’s broader political landscape.
Ava has had a controversial run. In fact, on September 10, just hours after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, when she shared a message that appeared to be directed at the Turning Point USA founder, earning her massive backlash from WWE fans and followers.
When it comes to her father, The Rock seemed fairly anti-Trump himself heading into the election of 2020, even endorsing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. But he’s since regretted doing so and shown signs of shifting back toward a more right-leaning stance.
As of now, neither Ava nor her father, Dwayne Johnson, has issued further clarification on the post or its intent.
