Ellen DeGeneres ditches blonde hair after moving to England

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi moved to the English countryside in November 2024, following the presidential election. Soon after the move, DeGeneres debuted a new hair look.

The television personality, whose long-running talk show ended in May 2022, moved to the celeb-favorite Cotswolds region of England after finding a house she loved.

A source told People, “Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after.”

The source said that during the outing at 'The Farmer’s Dog,' a pub owned by English TV presenter and journalist Jeremy Clarkson in the Cotswolds, “They hung out with [Clarkson's partner, actress] Lisa Hogan and James Blunt, and The Corrs performed at the pub."

In a November 13, 2024, joint Instagram post from British pub 'The Farmer’s Dog' and singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia, DeGeneres enjoyed an intimate live music performance with de Rossi and friends.

The clip shows Imbruglia and others singing along before the camera pans to DeGeneres and de Rossi, who wave. At the time, DeGeneres sported a shorter, darker hairstyle instead of her usual platinum blonde.

'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' ended in 2022

Ellen DeGeneres changed her lifestyle two years after 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' ended its 19th season run in May 2022. The show closed following toxic workplace allegations against her in 2020.

In her July 2024 Netflix comedy special, 'Ellen’s Last Stand…Up,' DeGeneres addressed the controversy and announced she was leaving show business.

“Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me,” she said. “I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”

She added that she would not return to fame, declaring, “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done."
