Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi take another step toward cutting ties with US after moving to UK

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ellen DeGeneres is firmly moving on with her plan to cut ties with the United States after one of her final properties in America has been sold for around $5 million.
As reported by Daily Mail, months after relocating to the UK with her wife Portia de Rossi, the former talk show host has reduced her property portfolio by selling her second property in Montecito recently.

This marks a huge step toward the 67-year-old Emmy-winning television show host’s relocation to the other side of the pond after her reputation received a massive blow following a scandal alleging she propagated toxic workplace culture.
Ellen DeGeneres sells her second Montecito property
As reported by Daily Mail, Ellen DeGeneres listed her 1,691-square-foot Spanish bungalow on March 10, for $4,995,000.
The property boasts two bedrooms, and two bathrooms, and is located in Montecito, California. According to the outlet, the property has been sold less than two weeks after its initial listing, and the star is expected to have pocketed around $5.2 million from the sale.
According to People, the property also includes 1,691 square feet of space along with a private primary suite boasting of “own patio, spa-like bath, and generous closet space.”

The listing further talked about the property’s features. “A sound fence ensures privacy and serenity, while the spacious backyard offers room for a pool or guest house all within moments of the beach, Coral Casino, and Lower Village,” it read.
Prior to selling her Spanish bungalow pattern home, DeGeneres also relisted her primary property in Montecito back in January.
According to the outlet, the couple’s love nest—consisting of five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms—was relisted earlier this year for $29.9 million.
While the married couple has been gradually slimming down their American properties after relocating to the UK in 2024, they have currently been staying in an $18 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds in England.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi 'left behind' properties worth millions in US
In January, a source close to the couple revealed that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi "left behind millions of dollars" in the US when they took a flight to the UK following the presidential election.
Speaking to InTouch Weekly, the source shared, "Ellen was just done with America and Portia was also ready to turn the page. But make no mistake, they left behind millions of dollars in possessions and collections to make this move and because it was Ellen's idea, you have to peel back the layers a little bit."
The couple's friend further suggested that what they did was possible only because they were ultra-rich.
"Ellen and Portia going to England was an extreme move and the kind of thing only incredibly rich people with full staffs of helpers can even contemplate pulling off," they added.
The insider continued, "In terms of their possessions, they left pretty much everything back in SoCal for their staff to sort through, get rid of, put into storage, and even sell. They are truly starting over in England and that says a lot because they put thousands of hours into their furniture and clothing collections and designing their homes in Los Angeles and then in Santa Barbara."
