WASHINGTON, DC: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk bizarrely joked that he wants to "die on Mars" as he and President Donald Trump appeared on Fox News for a chat with Sean Hannity on Tuesday, February 18.

During the interview, the duo discussed subjects such as lawsuits, "abandoned" astronauts, and the online insults they come across, according to the Independent.

Both Elon Musk and Donald Trump also revealed how they both came to be aligned. The tech billionaire said that he was going to support Trump in his presidency, but his decision "sped up" after the assassination attempt on him in Butler, Pennsylvania in July last year.

The 47th president also showed his support for Musk's technological and space ambitions, according to Unilad.

Trump told Hannity during the chat, "Elon’s going to go into orbit soon. He’s going to go to Mars," and Musk replied, "At some point, They ask me 'Do you want to die on Mars?' and I say 'Yes but not on impact.'"

Musk's bizarre joke made Trump laugh.

The Tesla CEO's comments about Mars seemed to reference a keynote address he delivered at South by Southwest (SXSW) way back in 2013.

Musk had earlier revealed his plans to send humans to Mars while SpaceX shared an animated clip showing how this could happen via the $3 billion Starship, per the outlet.

Similarly, in March 2022, he tweeted that he sees 2029 as the earliest possible date to get humans on Mars.

During the interview with Hannity, Musk also flattered Trump as he said, "I love the president, I think President Trump is a good man. The president has been so unfairly attacked in the media, it's really outrageous."

He added, "I’ve spent a lot of time with the president, and not once have I seen him do something that was mean or cruel or wrong, not once."

Taking the cue, Hannity added, "I've known him for 30 years, and I've never seen anybody take as much as he's taken."

Internet in splits as Elon Musk jokes he wants to 'die on Mars'

Netizens found it quite funny that Elon Musk bizarrely mentioned that he wants to "die on Mars" during his interview with Donald Trump.

One wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Elon's gonna get to Mars, just not on impact! LOL He wouldn't want that to happen too soon," and another added, "Elon really out here making 'dying on Mars' sound like a weekend plan."

A person quipped, "Elon thinks about going to Mars, and I have trouble deciding if I should go Costco or Sam’s Club," whereas one mentioned, "He and @stclairashley should start a Martian colony," referencing Ashley St Clair's Valentine's Day announcement that she secretly gave birth to Musk's 13th child.

"Elon will be president of Mars," an individual joked, while one more added, "'Not on impact' – the fine print of every interplanetary travel brochure."
