Elon Musk brings son X Æ A-Xii to Trump Beijing summit with Xi Jinping
BEIJING, CHINA: Elon Musk turned Donald Trump’s high-profile Beijing summit into an unexpected family moment after arriving at the Great Hall of the People alongside his 6-year-old son X Æ A-Xii.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO was seen holding his son’s hand as they entered the major business meeting involving Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and some of America’s biggest tech executives.
Video from the summit showed X Æ A-Xii - whom Musk shares with singer Grimes - walking beside his father in Beijing while wearing a light blue vest featuring green embroidery. At one point, the child could also be seen running after Musk while carrying what appeared to be a brown shoulder bag.

Elon Musk and X Æ A-Xii arrive together at Beijing summit
Musk joined several top American executives invited to attend Trump’s meeting with Xi Jinping in Beijing. Among those present were Apple CEO Tim Cook and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
As cameras followed the delegation entering the Great Hall of the People, X Æ A-Xii quietly became part of the scene alongside some of the world’s most influential political and business leaders.
The child’s appearance added a softer and more personal element to an otherwise formal summit centered around geopolitics and economic negotiations.
Musk has increasingly brought his son to major public appearances over the past year, making X Æ A-Xii a recognizable figure online.
The young boy has previously appeared alongside his father during political and business events, including visits connected to Trump’s administration.
This time, however, the setting was far more global in scale.
The image of Musk walking into a major US-China summit while holding his son’s hand created a striking visual, especially given the seriousness of the topics being discussed behind closed doors.
Grimes previously objected to son’s public appearances
X Æ A-Xii’s appearance in Beijing also renewed attention on Grimes’ earlier concerns about their son being placed in highly public political settings.
The singer previously reacted after Musk brought the child to the Oval Office earlier this year while Trump signed an executive order during his second term.
At the time, Grimes revealed she had not known beforehand that her son would appear publicly during the event.
“He should not be in public like this,” she wrote on X. “I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Despite those concerns, Musk has continued bringing X Æ A-Xii to several major appearances, further fueling public fascination around the billionaire’s blending of fatherhood with politics, business, and global influence.
The 6-year-old is one of Musk’s 14 children. Musk and Grimes also share daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl and son, Techno Mechanicus.
Donald Trump and Xi Jinping focus summit on trade and global tensions
While Musk’s family moment attracted attention, the Beijing summit itself centered on major discussions between Trump and Xi Jinping.
According to details shared after the meeting, the leaders discussed economic cooperation between the United States and China, including market access for American businesses and Chinese investment opportunities.
The White House later shared photos from the gathering and said both sides discussed expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
Chinese state-backed newspaper Xinhua also reported that Xi stressed China’s willingness to continue business partnerships with the United States.
“Xi said China welcomes the United States to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China, and expressed belief that US companies will enjoy even broader prospects in China,” the report stated.
The newspaper further said American business leaders attending the summit expressed interest in strengthening operations and partnerships in China.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang later described the summit as “one of the most important summits in human history.”
“Today’s morning ceremony was very uplifting,” Huang told reporters. “President Xi was very inspiring, very welcoming, and President Trump was very inspiring and very welcoming.”
