WASHINGTON,DC: President Donald Trump’s appearance in Las Vegas on Wednesday, August 5 came with an unexpected side story: his hair.

A noticeably fuller-looking hairstyle at the Red Rock Casino quickly caught the attention of social media users, who began debating whether Trump had simply changed his styling or had discovered a new way to add volume.

Journalist Aaron Rupar was among those who noticed the difference, asking online whether Trump was wearing a wig.

Trump’s hair gets online treatment

Trump appeared at the casino as he spoke about his administration’s economic record, but his hairstyle soon became one of the most discussed details from the appearance.

The president’s familiar swept-back blond hair appeared unusually thick, prompting people online to stop talking about his remarks and start examining his head.

Rupar posted: “Trump's hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal.” He then asked: “Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?”

That was enough to set off a wave of commentary.

One social media user admitted, “I actually thought that it was an impersonator.”

Another compared the new look to actor Parker Stevenson, writing, “He went for the full Parker Stevenson.”

Someone else offered a more imaginative explanation, joking: “That's because his hair flew off the other day, getting off a plane.”

Another commenter wondered whether Trump could become “the first president to wear a wig in more than 200 years.”

And one person suggested the simplest explanation of all: “Someone went to the salon for hair and make up.”

The comments quickly turned into a running joke, with users posting edited images that placed furry animals on top of Trump’s head.

A familiar Trump moment with new twist

Questions about Trump’s hair are hardly new, and the president has addressed them himself over the years.

In a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone, Trump described his grooming routine, saying he washes his hair with Head & Shoulders and lets it dry naturally before combing it.

He also pushed back on the idea that his familiar hairstyle was simply a conventional comb-over.

“I get a lot of credit for comb-overs,” Trump told Rolling Stone. “But it’s not really a comb-over. It’s sort of a little bit forward and back.”

Trump also said during that interview that he had styled his hair the same way for years and insisted he had a good hairline.

He had been even more direct years earlier.

In a 2006 interview with MSNBC, Trump said of the long-running speculation: “It’s actually my hair,” adding, “It’s not a hairpiece.”
