Elon Musk mocked after criticizing Lupita Nyong’o’s casting in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk has been receiving a lot of criticism online after he targeted Lupita Nyong'o's casting in Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey'. The SpaceX founder replied to several X posts disapproving of Nyong'o as Helen of Troy in the upcoming tentpole.
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh posted a screenshot of a new Time magazine profile of Christopher Nolan, published May 12, which said that the 43-year-old actress won’t just be seen as Helen, but also as Clytemnestra, the sister of the queen of Sparta.
Matt Walsh says Lupita Nyong’o is not 'the most beautiful woman'
“Not one person on the planet actually thinks that Lupita Nyong’o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world.’
But Christopher Nolan knows that he would be called racist if he gave ‘the most beautiful woman’ role to a white woman,” Matt Walsh fired.

He also added that the British-American filmmaker “is technically talented but a coward. Too afraid to do anything that even slightly challenges the spirit of the age.”
Elon Musk backs Matt Walsh on casting row
Walsh’s post received immediate approval from Elon Musk, who commented beneath it by simply writing, “True.”
Another X account attacked Nyong'o's casting in Nolan’s movie, sharing, “Q: Why is Christopher Nolan, like many other directors, so keen to race-swap white characters? A: Quotas and awards,” referring to the Oscars’ new representation and inclusion standards required for eligibility in the Best Picture category, which include a combination of casting, subject matter, leadership and department heads, crew, apprenticeships, and/or audience development.

Elon Musk says Christopher Nolan ‘lost integrity’
Musk did not refrain from expressing his view. He replied, “He wants the awards.”
This was not the first time the former senior advisor to Trump had said something negative about Nolan or his casting of Nyong'o.
Earlier this year, when Nyong’o’s role was just a rumor, Musk had also criticized the speculation.
“Helen of troy was fair skinned, blonde, and ‘the face that launched a thousand ships’ because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her casting choices that make the premise incoherent are admissions that the story was never the point and an insult to the author,” a person on X wrote.

At the time, the 54-year-old businessman had commented that “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”
'The Odyssey' is expected to hit theaters in July.
X users tell Elon Musk to focus on kids
Meanwhile, Musk’s attack on Nyong'o's casting and Nolan has not gone down well with many X users.
One person commented, “I used to get annoyed but it's refreshing nowadays being reminded of how stupid Elon is on this app.”

“‘Wants Awards’ directed at Nolan... How about you go spend time with your kids so maybe one day they'll actually give you a #1 Dad mug or something,” an X user posted.

“1. He already has all the awards 2. So does Lupita, which is why he really wants her 3. If anyone is genuinely taking movie advice from Elon they are probably not watching many movies to begin with,” a post on X attacking Musk read.
