Elon Musk plans to file for 'full custody' of one-year-old son with Ashley St Clair
WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk announced on X that he plans to file for full custody of his son with Ashley St Clair. The two began a personal and professional relationship in May 2023.
After a year together, St Clair gave birth to their son, Romulus, in September 2024. She revealed the birth in February 2025, and the pair have since been engaged in legal battles over custody.

In a post on X on Monday, January 12, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, 54, said he plans to seek full custody of the son he shares with influencer and author Ashley St Clair, 27.
Musk wrote that he would file for full custody that day, stating, “I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy.”

He made the comment while replying to another X user who urged him to pursue custody after St Clair publicly changed her views to support the transgender community. Another user, Goblin Guy, responded by praising Musk, saying he believes Musk tries to do the “right thing.”
The user also criticized how Musk was treated during efforts to expose alleged government fraud, adding, “I also think it is disgusting how you were treated when you tried to uncover government fraud, both by (some of) the American people and the government itself.”
Yeah, I sure dig my own grave and inadvertently cause pain for many people I care about too. 😔

I am very worried about population collapse destroying civilization, but this doesn’t really solve that problem.

Ashley St Clair addresses custody battle with Elon Musk
Despite Musk’s claim, Ashley St Clair has not publicly said she planned to have their son transition.
In August 2025, St Clair spoke openly about her ongoing custody battle with Musk, describing the past year as “unplanned career suicide.” In the first episode of her podcast 'Bad Advice' on Musk’s X platform, she said she started the show after facing eviction.
She added, “Polymarket offered me $10,000 to do an ad read. So with that, the roof over my head has been brought to you by Polymarket.”
“Not because anybody asked, but because statistically speaking, it was either join this or join a -[multi-level marketing scheme],” she said, alluding to financial strain amid her ongoing parenting dispute with Musk.
“I’m not starting this because I think my big-brain thoughts and my podcast mic are the greatest gift to humanity,” she said. “I actually think I have the worst ideas, so consider everything out of my mouth a cautionary tale.”
Over the weekend, she apologized for past comments about the transgender community. St Clair responded on X after a user accused her of past transphobia, saying she feels deep guilt for her remarks and worries they may have caused pain to Musk’s transgender daughter, Vivian.
She added, “Idk how to make amends for many of these things but I have been trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt.”
St Clair explained that she hesitated to speak publicly about transgender rights because she feared her comments would be seen as insincere. “Even this reply will become right-wing hysteria, but yeah, I am sorry,” she wrote. “Let me know how I can help.”
