NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Elon Musk may be considered for an advisory position in the White House if former President Donald Trump comes out victorious in the November general election, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Discussions between the Tesla CEO and the former president have explored potential avenues for Musk to provide "formal input" on economic and border security policies, according to the Journal's Wednesday, May 29 report, which cites individuals knowledgeable about the conversations.

Elon Musk plans to use his connections in various industries to challenge President Biden

People familiar with the discussions told the outlet that Musk, who owns the social media platform X, and billionaire investor Nelson Peltz have briefed the former president about a plan to invest in a "data-driven" project to prevent voter fraud.

Peltz and Musk also informed Trump about the ongoing effort within elite circles to dissuade powerful American business leaders from endorsing Biden, Trump's primary opponent in the 2024 election whom he defeated in 2020.

According to The Journal, Musk, who met with Trump back in March, speaks with the former president several times a month and has previously discussed immigration, science, and technology.

The CEO of Tesla, who declared he would not be contributing money to the presidential campaign, hopes to beat Biden in November by using his connections in a number of industries.

The former president "will be the only voice of what role an individual plays in his presidency," a Trump campaign official told The Hill.

“But it has been widely reported, and is demonstrated in a number of ways, that many of the nation’s important leaders in technology and innovation are concerned with the damage done to their industry by Biden’s failure to handle our economy and his moves to overburden innovators with government bureaucracy and unrelenting regulation,” the campaign official added.

Although the CEO of Tesla hasn't endorsed anyone yet in the race, in recent months the businessman has criticized Biden on immigration, tariffs, and other issues.

As soon as the news went viral on social media, netizens started reacting to it. A user wrote, "Elon should stay out of politics."

Another user questioned, "What qualifications does @elonmusk have when it comes to border security?"

The third commentator questioned, "Same guy who lost billions of dollars because of his genius Twitter purchase?"

"Imagine how quickly Tesla's will replace government fleet vehicles , PD cruisers , Ambulances , Firetruck etc," one person said.
