Elton John admits his age makes him wonder 'how much time I have left' as he
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Sir Elton John has opened up on his concerns regarding mortality as he reflects on his age and the future.
The 77-year-old singer, known for his legendary career, also spoke about how his children worry about his age.
His new documentary, 'Elton John: Never Too Late', offers a deeper look into his life and career, revealing the artist's thoughts on life, death, and family.
Elton John's health battles and reflections on life
Directed by RJ Cutler and Sir Elton John's husband, David Furnish, the documentary features unseen footage and interviews with important figures in John's life and career, including Bernie Taupin, Dua Lipa, and John Lennon, reports Sky News.
Over the years, John has faced several health challenges, including knee and hip replacements, prostate cancer surgery, and a recent eye infection that has left him with limited vision in one eye.
In the documentary, he candidly speaks about the toll aging has taken on him and how it has made him think about his own mortality.
The singer shares his thoughts about his two sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.
"I would love to be around forever. I want to see them have children and get married, but I don't think I am going to be around for that, who knows, you never know," Elton John said.
Elton John speaks about exhaustion of touring
After ending his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour last year, Elton John expressed his exhaustion from years of performing.
"I don’t have to work after this tour. I will be working doing records and putting radio shows together, and doing other things, but travelling takes so much out of you," John explained.
He added, "It is very tiring. I am used to it and I am a veteran at it… but this is where you start to think about mortality."
Elton John shares his fears about the future
Elton John also voiced concerns about what the future holds, particularly regarding his life’s work.
"I wonder what is going to happen to all of this stuff when I finish? This is the latter time of my life. I don’t know how much time I have left," he shared.
Despite these concerns, the singer admitted that his life changed for the better when he became a father.
Speaking about his sons, Elton said a week before, "Having the children changed everything for the better because now it's all about them. It's all about their welfare and their future and it's not about me and it's not about him."
Elton John shares his two sons with his husband, David Furnish. The couple married in 2014, welcoming Zachary in 2010 and Elijah in 2013, both via surrogacy.
