Shocking video captures Erie horror
The footage, first released by 'Your Erie', captures the moment a routine walk across a Perry Street yard turns into a desperate scramble for safety as violence erupts nearby.
The clip opens with two women moving across the lawn, seemingly drawn by an unusual disturbance in the area.
Their curiosity quickly gives way to alarm when a sudden cry of “Oh my God!” breaks the silence.
Within seconds, the women turn around and sprint back across the grass as gunshots crack in the background.
The sound of children screaming adds to the chaos, while another person can be heard urgently warning people nearby to get inside their homes.
While the video captures the fear and frantic reactions of people in the vicinity, it does not provide a complete account of the violence inside the house.
Nor does the recording independently establish who fired the shots heard in the clip.
Investigators have examined other surveillance footage and physical evidence from the scene to piece together the sequence of events and establish what happened inside the property.
Police identify suspect and victims
Erie police identified the suspected shooter as Matthew Stone Sr. on Monday.
Authorities said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before officers arrived at the scene.
The victims included Stone’s wife, Michelle Stone and their adult children: Matthew Stone Jr., Jonathan Stone and Angelina Stone.
Angelina was days away from giving birth to her third child. Her unborn baby, Kyrie, was included in the death toll.
Angelina’s two young children, five-year-old Isiah and one-year-old Amari’anna, were also killed.
The other victims were Lora Roberts and Twila Tanner, a family friend.
According to the police account, both women were outside the home before they were shot.
Authorities have not publicly established a motive for the attack and has not ruled out mental health struggles so far.
The deaths have devastated several generations of one family. The youngest victims had barely begun their lives, while the unborn child was expected to arrive just days after the shooting.
