Football analyst Booger McFarland sings praise for Huskies QB Michael Penix Jr on 'GMA' with Whit Johnson
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The January 7 episode of 'Good Morning America' featured ESPN football analyst Anthony Darelle McFarland, also known as Booger, joining co-host Whit Johnson to discuss an upcoming national college football championship game.
The Washington Huskies will be facing off against the Michigan Wolverines in the game which is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 8 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Anthony Darelle explains Michael Penix Jr's greatest strengths
Johnson kicked off the discussion by talking about the Huskies' star quarterback, Michael Penix Jr, and how he reached this stage of the championship.
Noting that the Heisman Trophy runner-up has led "Washington to an unbeaten season so far," Johnson sought his guest's opinion on the biggest strengths of the player.
"I think he has got two [great strengths]," began McFarland, "And number one has got nothing to do with his on-the-field play as far as football [is concerned]."
"It's his mental toughness. You talk about a kid who's from Tampa, who went to Indiana. He has gone through two ACL injuries… he had to transfer from Indiana to Washington to fulfill his potential. And for me, the mental toughness that he displays shows up in each and every game," he explained.
"As for the second… the number one attribute a quarterback has to have is accuracy. [Penix Jr] may be the most accurate quarterback that I have ever seen," claimed the two-time Superbowl champion.

McFarland continued to praise Penix Jr as he said, "He literally can throw the football through a keyhole, and he shows up each and every week… How he leads his football team has been outstanding, and he is gonna put it on display tomorrow night."
Michigan Wolverines are expected to put up an excellent defense
"It's gonna be an NFL-style challenge," exclaimed McFarland on the subject.
"Michigan's defensive coordinator Jesse Minter doesn't just come out and call vanilla defenses. He is gonna try to confuse Michel Penix. [The Wolverines] are not gonna give up the big play," he predicted
Citing examples of past defensive plays of the Wolverines, which he praised as "deep" and "veteran," McFarland stated, "There's no doubt in my mind it'll be the biggest challenge that Washington and Michael Penix has faced all year long. If they are to win this game they are gonna have to go through this defense which is no small task."
