Ex-ICE director Thomas Homan warns of increased 'red flags' as illegal immigrants breach US military bases
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Retired acting director of the US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Tom Homan joined co-host Will Cain to discuss breaches of military compounds by illegal immigrants on the Saturday, May 25 episode of 'Fox & Friends.'
"A 17-year-old Mexican national jumped the fence of the Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas in an attempt to escape border patrol agents," Cain shared at the beginning of the segment. The incident took place on Thursday, May 23, just twenty days after two illegal immigrants from Jordan got into a Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia. This led Cain to wonder if the breaches were part of a new trend.
Tom Homan warns against 'red flags' over border security
Sharing his take on the situation, Homan told Cain that the FBI director Christopher Wray believed there were more red flags over the security of the southern border than ever before, which may be classified as a national security threat.
"Look, two Jordanian illegal aliens entered a military installation after being told that they couldn't. So they ignored law enforcement and tried to enter anyways," he continued. "They were in an empty box truck, claiming to work for Amazon, (to) which Amazon said that they have never heard of them."
He slammed the Department of Homeland Security for keeping the American people in the dark and not publicly identifying the perpetrators. They might have been seeking asylum, in which case their identities had to be legally protected, "but the Secretary of Homeland Security had the authority to override that regulation."
"The American people have a right to know if there is a terrorist threat in the United States," added Homan.
Tom Homan's concern over illegal immigrants not being vetted
Homan said that the state of illegal migration through the borders has him worried even after his three decades of service as an immigration official.
"A record number of people on the terrorist watch has crossed the border," he claimed. "There are millions of people who have been released into the United States that are not properly vetted."
"We only vet (immigrants) against information available to us, so unless they were arrested in the United States previously unless they are encountered on the battlefield and had biometrics and retina scans done by soldiers, there is no record of these people. So all these people they're saying are vetted, we don't have the information to vet them against."
"People need to be concerned, because I am concerned (that) there are too many red flags, too many known suspected terrorists entering this country, and the thousands of people from special interest, countries (like) Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Korea, we need to be concerned of this stuff. This is the biggest national security vulnerability in the history of this nation, and this administration isn't doing anything about it," he later stated.
