The speculation began after an unverified report and Emma Watson’s visit to the Clooneys’ Lake Como estate in Italy. Photos shared on Sunday, August 9, appeared to show Emma arriving at the couple’s private estate.

An X (formerly Twitter) user posted, "Emma Watson has sparked dating rumours after being photographed with George Clooney as they arrived at his Villa together in Lake Como, Italy. 'they legit do not look too happy that paparazzi spotted them😭.'"

Emma was seen getting off a boat at the estate’s private dock. However, reports have not explained why she visited the property. Harper’s Bazaar suggested that the 'Harry Potter' actress may have been visiting the Clooneys or staying at the property while they were away. The visit also led to social media posts linking Watson to George Clooney.

Some accounts even shared images that appeared to show George accompanying Emma from the dock. These images have added to the online speculation surrounding the visit. It remains unclear where George and Amal are currently staying. The couple recently had to leave their home in France after wildfires threatened the area.

Despite the lack of clarity around Watson’s visit, the photos quickly fueled new rumors about trouble in the Clooneys’ marriage. Earlier, Radar Online cited unnamed sources in a report claiming that George and Amal could be heading for a “$600 million divorce.”

Fact Check: False

The claim is false. Rumors that George and Amal Clooney are getting divorced are based on a hoax. Viral images claiming to show Emma with George at his Lake Como villa are AI-generated.

An X post also debunked the images, stating that the picture of Watson with Clooney was AI-generated. The post noted that Emma had actually met Amal, a human rights lawyer, who shares several interests with the actor.

Real paparazzi photos from August 8, 2026, show the 'Little Women' star arriving alone by boat at the Clooneys’ Lake Como villa. Reports from Harper’s Bazaar and Backgrid also confirm her visit. There is no evidence that Watson and George were together at the villa or that they have a romantic relationship or joint project.

A Community Note also pointed out that paparazzi photos show Watson arriving alone and do not show her with George. The Clooneys are also known to host famous guests at their Lake Como home.
