Claim: Dominic Evans is masked man in Nancy Guthrie case
Several social media users claimed that the masked man in the images released by the FBI was Dominic Evans. An X user posted, "Whoever this Dominic Evans guy is, the bandmate of Tomasso Cioni (the Son in Law of Nancy Guthrie) it REALLY looks like him. I've seen numerous posts saying he has a record and is a suspect, I apologize if he's been cleared please lmk!"
Similarly, another X user wrote, "This is Dominic Aaron Lee Evans, a close buddy and ex-bandmate of Tommaso Cioni, who’s the son-in-law of Nancy and is married to Annie Guthrie."
"Tommaso Cioni's,( husband of Annie Guthrie) former band mate and still good friend Dominic Evans side by side of the new Nest door cam photo released. What do you think," wrote another person on X.
Meanwhile, an X account also mentioned, "Dominic Evans, a Tucson, AZ drummer in the band Early Black with Tommaso Cioni as members, is eyed as a possible suspect in Nancy Guthrie's disappearance."
A person further wrote, "Dominic Evans the one who they think has Nancy Guthrie lives 53 minutes away."
Fact check: False, no credible evidence to back the claim
The claims made in the online posts are false, as there is no credible evidence to prove that the masked man in the images released by the FBI is Dominic Evans. No law enforcement agency has mentioned Evans' name.
The released video seems to capture an individual with gloves, a face cover, and a backpack, and his face is only partially visible. As per the person's appearance, he appears to be an individual who interferes with Guthrie’s doorbell camera.
Even though some online users suggest possible similarities with the individual, experts claim that one cannot identify an individual from such a grainy video.
