WASHINGTON, DC: An X post claims that the former President Joe Biden’s White House officials were recorded discussing withholding Secret Service protection for President Donald Trump and joking about him being 'taken out,' with Kamala Harris allegedly laughing shortly before the July 2024 Butler assassination attempt. Let’s fact-check the claim.

Claim: Democrats caught on tape discussing withholding Secret Service protection for Trump

According to the X post shared by JoshHall2024, it claimed that Biden White House officials were recorded discussing withholding Secret Service protection. It began: “BIDEN WHITE HOUSE OFFICIALS CAUGHT ON TAPE DISCUSSING WITHHOLDING SECRET SERVICE PROTECTION FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP, JOKING ABOUT HIM BEING 'TAKEN OUT' JUST DAYS BEFORE HIS ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION IN BUTLER, PA.”

The post also said: “This is according to a HIGH-RANKING FORMER BIDEN ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL who was on the call, who also claims that former Vice President Kamala Harris is heard on the tape CACKLING at the comment fantasizing about potential violence against our President.”

It further added: “This is a SERIOUS SCANDAL AND NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE... Did the Biden administration know about the plot to "take out" President Trump or even worse...”

The post concluded with: “Was this an INSIDE JOB that they were in on? WE DEMAND ANSWERS!”

The X user received over 19.3K views, 1.9K likes, and several comments. One commenter said, “Of course they did!!! Why do you think it was the only rally of his to be live? They wanted everyone to see!!!” Another wrote, “The democrats are no longer good-faith Americans; they are insurrectionists and are betraying the Constitution. They should never hold power again.”

Fact check: No evidence found of Democrats plotting against Trump regarding Secret Service protection

The claim that Biden White House officials were recorded discussing withholding Secret Service protection from Donald Trump is not supported by any verified evidence. The allegation is based on an anonymous former Biden administration official, and credible news organizations have published no audio recording or independent confirmation as of April 2026.

Official investigations into the Butler incident have instead focused on Secret Service communication breakdowns, insufficient resources, and operational failures, rather than any deliberate internal conspiracy.

If the claim were true, it would likely include clear details such as the actual recording, when it was made public, and where it was released. However, no such evidence or official documentation has been provided, and no reputable outlet has reported the existence of such a tape.

In addition, searches across major search engines using related keywords about a supposed tape involving Democrats and Trump before the Butler attack have not produced any supporting evidence. Based on available information, the claim is unsubstantiated and false.
