According to the viral claim circulating on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok, Cardi B was purportedly shot during a meeting with the "largest cartel in America."

The claim spread in the form of a video, viewed hundreds of thousands of times, made in the style of a newsreel, contains various clips of police response, Cardi B, and one purported bystander saying, "It is very, very sad, my heart is broken forever."

The voiceover then details how the meeting was a "secret" and how Cardi B was "critically wounded" during a shooting that happened in front of a penthouse.

Fact Check: No such event occurred

Cardi B Offset

The video is fake and misleading, as there is no evidence of the rapper being shot.

A Google search for the claim yielded no credible reports from prominent news and entertainment media outlets, which, if true, would have been widely covered and made headlines.

There are also no official statements or updates from the police about such an event.

The rumor was likely inspired by the fact that Cardi B's ex-husband, Offset, was shot outside a casino on April 6 in Seminole, Florida, after which Lil TJay and one other individual were arrested in connection with the incident.

Offset was taken to the hospital, and a spokesperson later confirmed to the media that he is "stable."
