According to the viral post, which surfaced on X, Christopher Nolan’s next film is ‘Interstellar Part II.’
The post states the sequel is in an early stage of development and will pick up after the journey of the lead character, Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, beyond the stars.
The post has garnered tens of thousands of views as of this writing, evoking mixed reactions from online users.
While many expressed excitement over the alleged development of the project, a few others appeared to question the claim’s authenticity and called for a fact check.
Fact Check: Christopher Nolan made no such announcement
However, the claim is false, as there are no updates from Nolan or the producers of the film indicating a sequel to the iconic sci-fi epic.
There are no official statements or announcements from Nolan or Warner Bros., which produced the 2014 film; if true, it would have been widely covered by prominent news and entertainment media outlets. A Google search for the claim also yielded no such media reports.
Following ‘The Odyssey’s’ success, when asked during an interview if fans would have to wait "another three years" before his next masterpiece, the legendary filmmaker stated with a laugh, "Oh, at least!"
Additionally, the claim originated from a satire account called ‘Parody Discussing Film,’ which describes itself in the bio as a ‘parody account.’
'The Odyssey's' success despite criticisms over casting
The claim surfaced as ‘The Odyssey,’ based on the Greek epic, went on to become a massive success despite the criticisms surrounding its casting choices after Lupita Nyong'o was cast as Helen of Troy.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk went on a spree, attacking the film for its casting, stating, “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”
He later added that Nolan “wants the awards”; that's why the filmmaker's casting decisions were more strategic than creative vision.
The criticisms intensified as rumors spread that Elliot Page would portray the legendary warrior Achilles in the film, which was amplified by Musk sharing posts accusing Nolan of destroying Homer's epic.
But the claims later proved to be inaccurate, as Page plays Sinon, not Achilles.
