WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines recently for buying an $8 million mansion in Malibu's celeb-packed Pt Dume.

Following this, Lindy Li, co-host of 'Her Take Podcast', criticized the former VP and claimed that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) ended up paying off $20 million of Harris' debt. But is there any truth to her statement? Let us find out below.

Claim: DNC paid off $20 million of Kamala Harris' debt

Lindy Li recently appeared on Newsmax 'Wake Up America' where she criticized Kamala Harris for spending a whopping $8 million on a mansion. She said, "This is the same woman who burnt through $2.5 billion in 107 days and then went on a book tour that lasted longer than her entire campaign."

"Unfortunately, she is actually considering of running for President again. I don't think she is even going to get through the primary. Where is this money coming from? Somebody needs to answer it because the DNC ended up paying for $20 million of her debt," Li added.

Lindy shared the segment's clip on X and wrote, "Kamala Harris just dropped $8 MILLION on a Malibu mansion after burning through $2.5 BILLION in the 2024 campaign. It was so bad the DNC had to rescue her & pay off $20 million of her debt. Then she made a fortune off a book about losing & now wants to run again. What a disgrace."

Harris recently bought a mansion in Malibu on a 4,000-square-foot, four-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Point Dume, a neighborhood in Malibu, per the California Post.

As per the report, several Point Dume residents have spotted Emhoff strolling through the neighborhood. The neighborhood has attracted several A-list actors over the years, including Sean Penn, Gerard Butler, and Julia Roberts.

Fact Check: DNC did pay $20 million of Harris' debt

The claims made by Lindy Li that the DNC ended up paying off $20 million of Kamala Harris' debt are true. In October 2025, Axios reported that the DNC paid $1.6 million in September to cover debt from Harris' 2024 campaign, bringing the DNC's total payout to the campaign to more than $20 million.

The report further mentioned that Harris spent an unprecedented $1.5 billion during her 107-day campaign, and invoices continue to roll into the DNC nearly a year later.

Axios also added that the DNC had only about $12 million in cash on hand by the end of September 2025, as the party made investments in campaigns in Virginia and New Jersey, along with other state parties.

Meanwhile, Democratic officials weren't sure how much more outstanding debt there is from Harris' campaign, people familiar with the matter told the outlet.
